Critical Path, Inc.

Critical Path is a provider of messaging services, working in partnerships with mobile operators, telecommunications companies, ISPs, and enterprises. It was acquired on December 4, 2013 by Openwave Messaging and is now headed by Openwave Messaging President and CEO, Joe Campbell.

History

Critical Path, Inc. was founded in 1997 by David C. Hayden and Wayne de Geere III as a provider of outsourced email service to ISPs. In 1998 they hired a new CEO, Douglas Hickey and acquired Usenet provider Supernews. The company went public on March 29, 1999. The IPO was covered favorably by the trade press at the time. In early 2001, nearly two years after their IPO, a series of lawsuits against Critical Path were filed over hiring practices, accounting irregularities, and securities fraud, culminating in a management shakeup and SEC action against the company's President, David Thatcher, and other executives. Thatcher and 2 others plead guilty and were sentenced to jail terms from 3 months to one year. In 2005 their stock was delisted by Nasdaq.

Critical Path (video game)

Critical Path is a post-apocalyptic interactive movie adventure video game developed by Mechadeus (now Mondo Media) and published by Media Vision Technology. Critical Path featured real time video which made it appear to be graphically superior to most games of its time. In actuality, the entire game was an interactive movie, where most choices would simply cause the game to progress or end.

Plot

A terrorist biological warfare doomsday event has played out, killing off 90% of the world's population. Many of the survivors are sick or eventually become insane. A group of surviving soldiers attempt to care for survivors and maintain order on their military base. Over time, the situation gradually becomes so dire that the commander orders all sick transported 70 miles (110 km) away to an abandoned village, and orders his troops to open fire on anything within a 30-mile (48 km) radius.

Kat (Eileen Weisinger), a helicopter pilot, returns from a reconnaissance mission to find her military base destroyed. Nighthorse (Stuart W. Yee) suggests that it was done by a nuclear weapon launched by a Soviet "boomer". Weeks later, Grier (Al Qualls) makes contact with an island 300 miles (480 km) away, which reported to be clear of the sick and capable of receiving refugees. Nighthorse, Grier, Kat and the player, an unnamed soldier, set off in two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters.

Critical Path (book)

Critical Path is a book written by US author and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller with the assistance of Kiyoshi Kuromiya. First published in 1981, it is alongside Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth one of Fuller's best-known works. Vast in its scope, it describes Fuller's own vision of the development of human civilization, economic history, and his highly original economic ideology based, amongst other things, on his detailed description of why scarcity of resources need no longer be a decisive factor in global politics.

Chapter 1 - Speculative Prehistory of Humanity

Human life began in the atolls of the South Pacific, where the average sea temperature is closest to that of the human body (p. 6). Rather than evolving from simpler organisms, humanity was of extraterrestrial origin and other organisms evolved from us (p. 7). From this base, humanity developed boat-building in Southeast Asia and colonised the rest of the planet (p. 15). There is evidence that the Bronze Age began in Southeast Asia (p. 17). Fuller's Dymaxion World Map is used to show the distribution of humanity over the Earth's surface. Over half the population lives in the regions watered by the Himalayan glaciers (p. 20).

PHP

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language. Originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994, the PHP reference implementation is now produced by The PHP Group. PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page, but it now stands for the recursive backronym PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor.

PHP code may be embedded into HTML code, or it can be used in combination with various web template systems, web content management system and web frameworks. PHP code is usually processed by a PHP interpreter implemented as a module in the web server or as a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) executable. The web server combines the results of the interpreted and executed PHP code, which may be any type of data, including images, with the generated web page. PHP code may also be executed with a command-line interface (CLI) and can be used to implement standalone graphical applications.

The standard PHP interpreter, powered by the Zend Engine, is free software released under the PHP License. PHP has been widely ported and can be deployed on most web servers on almost every operating system and platform, free of charge.

Inc. (band)

inc. (formerly known as Teen Inc.) is an American music duo originally from Los Angeles formed by brothers Andrew and Daniel Aged. Their first full length album, No World, was released on February 19, 2013.

Musical career

inc. was formed as Teen Inc. around 2010 by brothers Andrew and Daniel Aged after a series of tours and session work with various artists. They produced, mixed, and self-released their first single, Fountains in 2010 along with the b-side "Friends of the Night".

They later released an EP titled 3 in 2011 under the name "Inc."

Their debut album, No World, was released under 4AD in February 2013. Two singles were released from the album: "The Place", which was featured in the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack, and "5 Days".

In February 2014 they released a collaboration single with English singer-songwriter, FKA twigs, titled "FKA x inc.". They also produced the song "One Time" for her debut album, LP1, released in August of 2014.

On December 1, 2014 they posted an unreleased demo from 2011 titled "Our Time" to their official YouTube account, along with the announcement that they would be releasing new music in 2015.
