Swim (Caribou album)

Swim is an album by Caribou, released in April 2010. It was his first album featuring new material since the 2008 Polaris Music Prize-winning Andorra. It featured great changes in comparison to its predecessor, deviating from the psychedelic pop sound and taking more influences from various kinds of electronic dance music, especially deep house and minimal techno.

Dan Snaith, the creative force behind Caribou, said that playing more DJ gigs, such as those at London's Plastic People, influenced him to embrace dance music and a greater range of frequencies in his music. It was songs written for these DJ sets which ultimately came to comprise Swim, though Snaith never originally intended for them to find their way into a Caribou album. Snaith says his work ethic on this album led to about 700 leftover songs, some unfinished, which did not make the album; Swim was, according to Snaith "pretty much me getting up every day and wanting to work on music. Working constantly on it. Making loads and loads and loads of music and then just sifting through to find the bits that I like".

Swim (Emily's Army EP)

It is the bands last release under their former name "Emily's Army" after changing their name to "Swimmers" in late 2014, and later "Swmrs" in late 2015 It is also the last record to feature lead guitarist Travis Neumann and last to feature Max on bass before switching to lead guitar.

  • Cristal (wine)

Cristal is the brand name of a Champagne produced by Louis Roederer. Cristal has a flat-bottomed clear, "crystal" bottle, anti-UV cellophane wrapper, and gold label. Widespread awareness of its high price has given the wine an image of exclusivity that, in turn, has elevated demand: it is considered a Veblen good. The most recently released vintages are the 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2002, and 2000.

    History

Cristal was first created in 1876 for Alexander II of Russia, and is viewed by many as the first prestige cuvée. As the political situation in Russia at the time of his rule was unstable, the Tsar feared assassination. He ordered that champagne bottles for his Three Emperors Dinner be made clear, so that he could see the bubbles and also to prevent hiding a bomb within them, as could happen with a typical dark green bottle. Louis Roederer commissioned a Flemish glassmaker to create a clear lead glass Champagne bottle with a flat bottom. The Champagne has since become known as "Cristal".

    Cristal (telenovela)

Cristal (1985-1986) is a Venezuelan telenovela that was produced by and seen on Venezuela's Radio Caracas Televisión. It was written by Delia Fiallo and directed by Daniel Farías, Arturo Páez, and Tito Rojas. This telenovela lasted 246 episodes, and it achieved a significant amount of success inside and outside Venezuela, it was extremely successful in its airing in Spain (where each advertisement that was seen during the transmission of Cristal cost more than seven million pesetas) and Italy. It was distributed internationally by Coral International. Cristal has been rebroadcast more than seven times in Venezuela.
