It is the world's largest electrical heating business and holds significant market positions in the domestic appliance industry worldwide.[citation needed] With an annual turnover of €1.5 Billion, the Group employs 8,500 people.[citation needed]
The company is privately held, and bases most of its manufacturing and development in the United Kingdom and Ireland. However, the company also has branches in Scandinavia and Brazil.[1][2]

Founded in 1973 in Northern Ireland as an electric heater manufacturer, the company has expanded by acquisitions.
Burco Dean Appliances were acquired by the Glen Dimplex Group in 1985 and was based at Mexbrourgh near Sheffield, England under the control of Morphy Richards. In 2007 Burco was moved within the group and is now under the control of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances at Whiston, Liverpool, England.
Dimplex was the fourth sponsor of Southampton Football Club from 1993 until 1995.
