Icon

An icon (from Greek εἰκών eikōn "image") is typically a painting depicting Christ, Mary, saints and/or angels, which is venerated among Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and in certain Catholic Churches.

Icons may also be cast in metal, carved in stone, embroidered on cloth, painted on wood, done in mosaic or fresco work, printed on paper or metal, etc. Icons are often illuminated with a candle or jar of oil with a wick. (Beeswax for candles and olive oil for oil lamps are preferred because they burn very cleanly, although other materials are sometimes used.) The illumination of religious images with lamps or candles is an ancient practice pre-dating Christianity.

Although common in translated works from Greek or Russian, in English iconography does not mean icon painting, and "iconographer" does not mean an artist of icons, which are painted or carved, not "written", as they are in those languages.

Comparable images from Western Christianity are generally not described as "icons", although "iconic" may be used to describe a static style of devotional image.

Stargate SG-1 (season 8)

Season eight of Stargate SG-1, an American-Canadian military science fiction television series, began airing on July 9, 2004 on the Sci Fi channel. The eighth season concluded on February 22, 2005, after 20 episodes on British Sky One, which overtook the Sci Fi Channel in mid-season. This was the first season of the show to have 20 episodes instead of 22, as well as the first to air concurrently with Stargate SG-1 spinoff series Stargate Atlantis (the first season thereof). The series was originally developed by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, while Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper served as executive producers. Season eight regular cast members include Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, and Michael Shanks. The eighth season begins with the SG-1 team trying to revive Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) after the events of the seventh season. At the end of the two-episode season opener, Colonel O'Neill is promoted to General and assumes command of Stargate Command (SGC), while Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assumes command of SG-1. The season arc centers on the growing threat and seemingly final defeat of the Goa'uld and the Replicators, races who were introduced in the first and third season of the show, respectively.

Icon (Vince Gill album)

Icon is a greatest hits album by American country musician Vince Gill. It was released on August 31, 2010 by MCA Nashville, and contains select highlight songs from his career.

Cream (nightclub)

Cream, based at the Nation nightclub in Liverpool, is one of the best-known night clubs in the world. Cream began life as a weekly house music night at Nation, and ran in this format for over 10 years, from October 1992 to June 2002. Over the ten years of weekly Saturday nights at Nation, the club played host to many international DJ superstars, including Paul Oakenfold (who was resident DJ throughout 1997 and 1998), Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Sasha, Roger Sanchez, Graeme Park, Andy Weatherall plus early exclusive DJ sets from The Chemical Brothers.

History

CREAM was founded by Andy Carroll, James Barton and Darren Hughes as a place to party with friends and family . Cream's opening night took place on Saturday October 17, 1992, when special guest Fabi Paras joined Paul Myers and Paul Bleasdale on the decks. Week two Andy and James graced the decks and made regular appearances for many years.

Plot

The film follows a retired Sergeant Major called Ron Harris. Having a bad leg due to diabetes complications, Ron is forced to receive help from various care workers after losing his wife in a tragic accident.

Production

Filming took place during April 2014 in and around the seaside town of Llandudno in North Wales.

Cream (Japanese group)

Cream (stylized as CREAM) is a Japanese hip hop group consisting of singer-songwriter Minami and rapper/track-maker Staxx T. Their musical style is influenced by hip-hop, pop, rock, and electronic dance music (EDM) -- which they collectively refer to as "new jpop." The group takes its name from a fusion of the words "creative" and "team". The group creates their music by having Minami compose a song's lyrics in English, after which point Staxx T translates it into Japanese.

Biography

In 2010, they released "DJ Deckstream presents ICEKREAM SOUNDZ Vol. 1" which became #1 on iTunes Hip Hop Charts for four consecutive weeks. Since then, they have been releasing original content on their YouTube channel CREAM VISION. Their first album, DREAMIN' was released through Avex Group in January 23, 2013 with the lead single "Shooting Star" which ranked #1 on USEN HIT JPOP. The album was ranked #1 on iTunes Japan Top Song Chart and the duo performed a release tour with 29 performances in 24 cities.
