3030 Press

3030 Press is an independent art and design book publisher founded in 2006 by John Millichap, in Hong Kong SAR, China. The company focuses on producing books about the character and expression of new creativity in China since the introduction of economic reforms in 1978.

3030 Press’ first titles are selections of new photography, contemporary art and graphic design in China by practitioners aged under or around 30 years old. The books seek to show the impact of new social and commercial forces on the creation of art and design, particularly among the generation born during the 1980s. As well as compilation surveys, 3030 Press also publishes monographs on some of China’s most prominent young artists, including Chen Man and Lin Zhipeng. The company has co-produced several exhibitions in China based on its book projects.

Press 53 is an independent publisher located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Known for championing the work of short story writers, poets, literary novelists, memoirists and others who face challenges in the publishing industry, Press 53 was launched in the wake of 9-11 when founder Kevin Morgan Watson lost his job at US Airways.

Notable Titles & Writers

In 2005, Press 53's first titles were authored by Doug Frelke, a veteran of the United States Navy and the Gulf War. By 2006, the press had reprinted The Land Breakers, an out-of-print classic novel by North Carolina writer John Ehle.

In addition, the press has issued books by Joseph Bathanti and Richard Krawiec. What the Zhang Boys Know, a novel in stories by Clifford Garstang published by the press in 2012, won the Library of Virginia Literary Award for Fiction.

As a small press, Press 53 publishes around fifteen books annually.

Plot

Jealous invalid husband (Ferrer) tries to kill sexy blond wife (Lyon), who uses occult powers and devices to try to kill him.

DVD Release

A DVD of the film has been released in Germany, but it has yet to see a Region 1 DVD release.

John Matos

Crash (b. John Matos, Bronx, New York, October 11, 1961) is a graffiti artist. As early as 13, John Matos was spray painting New York City trains, the full image art as opposed to simpler tagging soon transferred to silk screened canvas. He was first noticed through his murals on subway cars and dilapidated buildings, he is now regarded as a pioneer of the Graffiti art movement. His work is said to convey a "visual link between street life and established society". In 1980, Crash curated the now iconic exhibition:"Graffiti Art Success for America" at Fashion MODA, launching the graffiti movement that has remained very active through today. By the 1980s Matos had exhibits across the United States and abroad. Galerie Yaki Kornblit was the first instrumental gallery in Amsterdam that help launch his career in Europe. In 1981 Crash, along with 10 other artists were chosen by The Public Art Fund to design animated imagery for The Spectacolor Billboard in Times Square. He was given his first gallery showing by Sidney Janis at the Sidney Janis Gallery in 1983. Chase Manhattan, N.A., as well as CITIBANK, N.A., and other collections came calling. In 1984, Crash along with Keith Haring painted mural installations for the 5/5 Figuration Libre France/USA at the Musee d'art Moderne de la Villa de Paris. In 1988 he sprayed Notes in the Wind measuring 178 x 178 centimetres to be exhibited and eventually to be owned by the Peter Stuyvesant Foundation in Zevenaar, Netherlands. In 1995, Crash was commissioned by British American Tobacco to create a commission for Lucky Strike brand cigarette, joining fellow artist Keith Haring, to create a special work for this company and their collection.

Crash (The Human League album)

Crash is the fifth studio album by the British synthpop band The Human League, released in 1986. Crash would provide the band with their second US number-one single, "Human", the same year. It was produced by the American production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who also wrote several tracks.

Background

After spending two years recording their fourth album Hysteria, which met with only moderate commercial success, the band struggled to record further material. By 1985, musician/songwriter Jo Callis had left the group. Virgin Records, worried by the lack of progress in one of their leading acts, called the band principals to a meeting where a solution was sought. As the problem was perceived to be the lack of production, it was suggested that the band take up an offer to work with Minneapolis based production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Jam and Lewis who had written for and produced The SOS Band, Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal, and had just finished working on Janet Jackson's breakthrough album Control. They had developed an interest in The Human League after the success of their US releases; they were also seeking an opportunity to cross over into the mainstream pop and saw The Human League as the perfect opportunity.

Victim (2011 film)

Victim is a 2011 British urban action drama film directed by Alex Pillai, written by Ashley Chin and Michael Maris, stars Ashley Chin, Ashley Madekwe, Jason Maza, and co-stars Adam Deacon,David Harewood and Giggs. The film is about a young man's attempts to move away from a life of violent crime, with the help of a wholesome country girl who comes to stay with his friend in the city, only to find himself the target of retaliation.

Plot

Tyson (Ashley Chin), Mannie (Jason Maza) and Jason (Michael Maris) grew up together in a tough inner-city world in London's East End, where no one could be trusted and everyone was out for themselves. With opportunities limited, it is crime that pays the bills and violence on the streets is how someone makes their mark. They make a living out of armed robberies with the help of eye candy Davina (Anna Nightingale) to seduce and lure drunken, unsuspecting rich City men in clubs, go back with them to their expensive flats, then Tyson and his crew move in, beat them up and steal everything.

Victim (Eighteen Visions song)

"Victim" was the second single from Eighteen Visions self-titled album. The song was featured as the theme song to WWE Vengeance, and has had much airplay on the radio stations. The CD was not released as a single, but rather as a promo, for radio, and collectors.

Meaning

In this song, James is begging the girl for forgiveness, but she denies it because she feels that she is the victim. James sings as the girl, not as himself.

"Victim" was featured on the popular sportbike freestyle video "Mass Mayhem 3". The song was originally in the Saw III soundtrack but it was instead replaced with "Your Nightmare".
