Covington, Ohio

Covington is a village in Miami County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was incorporated as Covington in 1835 on the site of the 1793 Fort Rowdy.

History

Covington was laid out in 1816. Early variant names were Friendship, Newberry, and Stillwater. A post office called Stillwater was established in 1825, and the name was changed to Covington in 1836.

Geography

Covington is located at 40°7′6″N 84°21′5″W / 40.11833°N 84.35139°W / 40.11833; -84.35139 (40.118434, -84.351312).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.35 square miles (3.50 km²), of which 1.32 square miles (3.42 km²) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km²) is water. Portions of the west border follow along the Stillwater River and Greenville Creek.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 2,584 people, 1,037 households, and 706 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,957.6 inhabitants per square mile (755.8/km²). There were 1,156 housing units at an average density of 875.8 per square mile (338.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.1% White, 0.3% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.2% from other races, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.6% of the population.

Ohio is the debut studio album by American rapper Stalley. The album was released on October 27, 2014, by Maybach Music Group and Atlantic Records. The album features guest appearances from Nipsey Hussle, Rick Ross, August Alsina, Ty Dolla Sign, Rashad and De La Soul. The album was supported by the singles "Always Into Something", "Jackin' Chevys" and "One More Shot".

Background

In July 2012, Stalley announced he had begun recording his debut album, saying: "We're workin' on an album right now. I'm in the studio. I just got in there about a week ago, so it's a whole big process. Right now, I'm thinking maybe top of the year would be the album. I definitely just take [Rick Ross and Wale's] energy, and I definitely watch their energy and watch how they do things. I'm very observant of how they set up their albums and set up their singles and things like that, being that it's all new to me. That's great company to keep and great people to watch."

On August 22, 2014, he announced the album would be titled Ohio in a vlog, saying: "The sound of my current music is intelligent truck music. It’s a sound that’s built for the cars. But you can also enjoy it in your headphones, your computer or however you want to listen to it. Me, growing up, I rode around listening to music. It was kind of like the soundtrack my days or wherever I was going."
