Cosima

Cosima is a feminine given name, the feminine version of the name Cosimo. It is derived from the Greek word meaning "order, decency." Cosmo was a fourth-century saint who was martyred with his brother Damian. They are the patron saints of medical doctors. An Italian male version of the name is Cosimo. Authors Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz commented in their 2007 book The Baby Names Bible that the name sounds exotic and is a fashionable name for the daughters of members of high society in the United Kingdom.

Grazia Deledda (Italian pronunciation: [ˈɡrattsja deˈlɛdda]; 27 September 1871 – 15 August 1936) was an Italian writer who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926 "for her idealistically inspired writings which with plastic clarity picture the life on her native island [i.e. Sardinia] and with depth and sympathy deal with human problems in general". She was the first Italian woman to receive this honor.

    Biography

Born in Nuoro, Sardinia, into a middle-class family, she attended elementary school and then was educated by a private tutor (a guest of one of her relatives) and moved on to study literature on her own. She started writing at a very young age, inspired by the Sardinian peasants and their struggles.

The first novel she wrote and published was Fiori di Sardegna (Flowers of Sardinia). This novel was published in 1892. She first published some pieces in the fashion magazine L'ultima moda when it still published works in prose and poetry. Nell'azzurro, published by Trevisani in 1890, might be considered her first work. Her family was not supportive of her desire to write, as it went against the social norms of the patriarchal system. Possibly due to this, she published a novel, Stella d’Oriente, under the pseudonym Ilia di Saint-Ismael. Her works seemed to focus on portraying harsh realities and difficult lifestyles, combining imaginary and autobiographical elements. Her novels tend to criticize social values and moral norms rather than the people who are victims of such circumstances.

    Cosima (album)

Cosima is the self-titled debut album by Australian Idol finalist and Australian singer Cosima De Vito, released in 2004 (see 2004 in music). The album features the Cold Chisel-cover and power ballad hit single "When the War Is Over" and songs penned by American songwriter Diane Warren. Originally conceived for the end of 2003, the recording of the album was delayed due to Cosima's acute vocal cord illness.

    Chart performance

Upon its debut the album hit number two, very nearly missing the top position. The album missed out on the pole position to Maroon 5's Songs about Jane by a matter of a few hundred copies. While this was a very high debut for an independent artist, the following weeks saw the album drop very quickly until it was out of the Top fifty within a matter of weeks (it dropped to number fourteen in only its second week). Indeed in the subsequent weeks, due to the lack of a strong radio single, the album dropped with little to push it up except Cosima's star power.

    Taste The Tears

    by: COSIMA

    You're gonna taste the tears
Tears like I cried over you
You're gonna taste, you're gonna taste the tears
    Taste the tears
How could you cause me so much pain
And leave my heart out in the rain
After I gave you everything oh oh
Why did you have to tell me lies
And put these tears here in my eyes
And crush my world with your good-bye oh oh
    You think that you're immune
    But someday baby someday soon
    You're gonna taste the tears
Tears like I cried over you
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste the tears
What did I ever do to you?
To make you treat my heart so cruel
To make you make me such a fool oh oh
One day you'll know just what it's like
    Someday someone will say good-bye
One day you'll be the one to cry oh oh
And when the things you do
All turn around, around on you
    You're gonna taste the tears
Tears like I cried over you
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste the tears
    You're gonna know the pain
Same thing that you put me through
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste
    You're gonna taste the tears
    Taste the tears
    Gonna taste the tears
You're gonna know what it's like
    You're gonna know the pain
Same pain that you put me through
    You're gona pay
