Corpsing (band)

Corpsing are an extreme metal band from England, United Kingdom. They have previously been signed to Jason Mendoca's (Akercocke) Goat of Mendes Records label and are due to release their next album through Grindethic Records.

Background

Following his departure from his previous band Infestation in the year 2000, guitarist Giuseppe Cutispoto decided to form another metal band. He soon hooked up with his brother Mick (Lead Guitar) and started writing some material. Their initial intentions were to mix various metal elements such as Death, Black, Thrash and Doom with other, non metal influences. While writing the material they started looking for other band members to complete the line up, and in 2002 Corpsing had a line-up and started rehearsing the material. After many months of rehearsals Corpsing were ready to record their debut album Watching the Thinker and in 2003 they signed to Goat of Mendes Records with whom later that year they would record their album. Watching the Thinker was subsequently released in October 2005.

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

Corpsing

Corpsing is British theatrical slang for unintentionally breaking character by laughing. In North American TV and film this is commonly referred to as breaking and is generally categorized as a blooper. The origin of the term corpsing is unclear, but may come from (provoking an actor into) breaking character by laughing while portraying a corpse.

A significant aspect of the phenomenon is the frequently deliberate and usually benign attempts among actors to cause this in cast members. During the "Pete and Dud" sketches in the BBC comedy series Not Only... But Also, Peter Cook would deliberately ad lib in an attempt to make Dudley Moore corpse—and invariably succeeded.

Corpsing is not exclusive to the theatre. One of the most famous examples of this is on the cricket programme Test Match Special in the famous "leg-over" incident and another cricket commentary in which it was noted that "...the bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey."

In the Monty Python film Monty Python's Life of Brian Michael Palin deliberately attempts to make background actors, who were told not to laugh at the risk of being fired, corpse during the scene in which Brian is brought in by the Centurion played by John Cleese and two of his guards. Michael himself nearly corpses in the process.

Plot summary

Conrad is a television producer who, whilst having lunch with his ex-girlfriend Lily, witnesses her murder and is shot himself by an anonymous assailant. The rest of the novel centres on Conrad's attempts to uncover the identity of Lily's killer and to discover the reasons for her murder.
