"Born and Raised" is the second single to be released from Alexisonfire's 2009 studio album Old Crows / Young Cardinals. The accompanying music video, shot at "Sun Sun Seafood" Chinese Cuisine Restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario on September 10, 2009, features much from Chinese culture, predominantly including elaborate Chinese dragon costumes; the video also has a gambling sub-theme. A "making of" film of just over one minute in length was released on which bassist Chris Steele replies "Like I was born and raised here" to the question "How was it [making the video]?"
Born and Raised is the debut EP by American hip hop duo Smif-N-Wessun, released on December 3, 2013, under Duck Down Music Inc.. Entirely produced by Beatnick & K-Salaam, the 6-song EP is a blend between reggae and hip hop, and includes guest appearances from Junior Reid, Jr. Kelly, Jahdan Blakkamoore, and DJ Full Factor. The EP was preceded by one single — "Solid Ground" featuring dancehall icon Junior Reid.
HipHopDX reviewer Homer Johnsen gave the album a three out of five, saying "Fans of Smif-N-Wessun will likely be pleased with Born and Raised. It is a notable change from their last effort, Monumental with Pete Rock, which speaks to their versatility as artists. The Reggae flavor is also reminiscent of their raggamuffin-Rap days as Cocoa Brovaz. In all, Born and Raised is an amalgamation of Reggae and Hip Hop that displays Tek and Steele's ability to think inside and outside the box simultaneously."

And if your man hold it down, thats real, be thankful. Real recognize real, that aint always true. A lot of people thrive while they mans eat steak food. Outta sight, outta mind, a few will remain true. Its not a game especially when they play you.
It is what it is, it aint what it was. Fakers keepin it real, haters deeper than love. Nothin leaves, nothin you get what you earn. As you reach valleys and peaks, you live and you learn. It is what it is, it aint what it was. Fakers keepin it real, haters deeper than love. Nothin leaves, nothin you get what you earn. As you reach valleys and peaks, you live and you learn.
As you mature, move on, forgive and forget. But be aware, some things you live to regret. They say know your enemy, remember your friend. Who against you becuz he aint no different from him. Especially when you on and he wish you was him, in the position you in, thats when resentment begins to manifest how insecure he mentally is. A weak nigga, affectin his potential to win. Love is a home, hate is where treachery lives around the corner from death, drama, and felony bids. Tomorrows not promised, today is a gift. The present determines what your legacy is. What you did yesterday you can never relive. To pursue it is the question what your relevance is. Recognize the truth, so you better prepare, for lifes numerous tests or your destined to fail.
