Factoring (finance)

Factoring is a financial transaction and a type of debtor finance in which a business sells its accounts receivable (i.e., invoices) to a third party (called a factor) at a discount. A business will sometimes factor its receivable assets to meet its present and immediate cash needs.Forfaiting is a factoring arrangement used in international trade finance by exporters who wish to sell their receivables to a forfaiter. Factoring is commonly referred to as accounts receivable factoring, invoice factoring, and sometimes accounts receivable financing. Accounts receivable financing is a term more accurately used to describe a form of asset based lending against accounts receivable.

Factoring is not the same as invoice discounting (which is called an "Assignment of Accounts Receivable" in American accounting – as propagated by FASB within GAAP). Factoring is the sale of receivables, whereas invoice discounting ("assignment of accounts receivable" in American accounting) is a borrowing that involves the use of the accounts receivable assets as collateral for the loan. However, in some other markets, such as the UK, invoice discounting is considered to be a form of factoring, involving the "assignment of receivables", that is included in official factoring statistics. It is therefore also not considered to be borrowing in the UK. In the UK the arrangement is usually confidential in that the debtor is not notified of the assignment of the receivable and the seller of the receivable collects the debt on behalf of the factor. In the UK, the main difference between factoring and invoice discounting is confidentiality.

Von Neumann algebra

In mathematics, a von Neumann algebra or W*-algebra is a *-algebra of bounded operators on a Hilbert space that is closed in the weak operator topology and contains the identity operator. They were originally introduced by John von Neumann, motivated by his study of single operators, group representations, ergodic theory and quantum mechanics. His double commutant theorem shows that the analytic definition is equivalent to a purely algebraic definition as an algebra of symmetries.

Two basic examples of von Neumann algebras are as follows. The ring L^∞(R) of essentially bounded measurable functions on the real line is a commutative von Neumann algebra, which acts by pointwise multiplication on the Hilbert space L²(R) of square integrable functions. The algebra B(H) of all bounded operators on a Hilbert space H is a von Neumann algebra, non-commutative if the Hilbert space has dimension at least 2.

Von Neumann algebras were first studied by von Neumann (1930) in 1929; he and Francis Murray developed the basic theory, under the original name of rings of operators, in a series of papers written in the 1930s and 1940s (F.J. Murray & J. von Neumann 1936, 1937, 1943; J. von Neumann 1938, 1940, 1943, 1949), reprinted in the collected works of von Neumann (1961).

Contact (ATB album)

Contact is the ninth studio album by German DJ André "ATB" Tanneberger, It was released on 24 January 2014 through Kontor Records.

Release

Like the previous album, Distant Earth, Contact was released in three varieties: standard 2 CD version, 3 CD Box Set and a Deluxe Fan Box (which was limited to 2000 copies and sold via Amazon).

The first CD contains standard ATB tracks, and features collaborations with artists like Jes, York, JanSoon, Stanfour, Tiff Lacey and Sean Ryan. The second CD is an ambient-chillout disc, and contains tracks in collaboration with Anova, Stefan Erbe or Fade.

The third disc, available in the Box Set, contains remixes of tracks found on the first CD, two tracks from ATB in Concert Live in New York, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes video from ATB's American tour. The limited edition Fan Box contains all three discs, 5 ATB postcards (one of which is handsigned by the DJ himself), an ATB sticker and an ATB flag.

Disc One

List of Code Lyoko episodes

This is a list of episodes for the French animated television series, Code Lyoko. The first season has no set viewing order save for the last two episodes, so it is listed by the order in which it aired. The following seasons have their episodes numbered, and are ordered by that number. So far, the series has a total of ninety-seven episodes: Twenty-six each for the first two seasons, thirteen for the third, thirty for the fourth, and the two-part prequel made alongside the third season. The first three seasons, the prequel, and Episodes 66–77 and 79–88 aired on Cartoon Network. Episode 78 and episodes 89–95 of the series aired on Cartoon Network Video and Kabillion, instead of on the network channel itself. MoonScoop announced a rebooted popular series titled Code Lyoko: Evolution; the first season of which consisted of twenty-six episodes. The series revolves around a gang of boarding school students who travel to a virtual world to battle X.A.N.A, a malevolent A.I. system.

Contact (Thirteen Senses album)

Contact is the second major label album by Thirteen Senses. Released in the UK on the 2 April 2007, it includes the single "All the Love in Your Hands". The album had originally been scheduled for release on 22 January, but due to more songs being written and recorded, the release was postponed. The band issued a statement on 12 December apologising for the delay and explaining that "our creative juices continued to flow, and we came up with some more material that we couldn't ignore. As a result, we had to record these songs leading to missed production deadlines." As a result of this, "Talking to Sirens" was added to the final record and the song "Final Call" from the promotional CD release of the album was taken out.

Six of the tracks from the album were previewed for a short period of time from 6 October 2006 on the official Thirteen Senses website. These were tracks 1,2,4,5,6 and 9 from the tracklisting below.

"Follow Me" was used in the closing sequence of the season two premiere of Kyle XY.
