Concord Academy

Concord Academy is a coeducational, independent, college preparatory school for grades nine through twelve, located in Concord, Massachusetts. Founded in 1922, the school enrolls 378 boarding and day students from eight countries and twenty states, As of 2013-2014.

Athletics

Concord Academy students play on twenty-eight teams in twenty-three sports; about 75 percent of students play on at least one team each year. Teams compete in the Eastern Independent League (EIL).

Campus

Concord Academy's primary campus is located on 39 acres (160,000 m²) between Main Street and the Sudbury River in the center of Concord, Massachusetts. Concord Academy’s campus includes eleven historic houses on Main Street, all built as family homes between 1780 and 1830.

Concord Academy (Memphis)

Concord Academy is a private, state approved, non-profit school (Grades 6-12) for students with special needs such as learning disabilities, attention deficits and many other problems that prevent students from learning in a regular class setting or school. Sometimes the students they serve are challenged with a single,or more special learning consideration or a defined social-emotional need. Much more often, however, these children face a combination of disabling factors that require modifications in all subject areas and a variety of programs to address unique needs. Concord provides the flexible curriculum and specialized programming within a small, nurturing, personal environment in which students feel they can learn and are able to thrive to learn.

History

Concord Academy was founded in 1983 by a group of parents who recognized that their students with disabilities were quickly falling behind their peers in large and highly competitive, educational settings. These founding parents recognized that students with special needs often have a painful awareness that they are “different” and experience great frustration when they can not “get” simple, everyday tasks that others master with ease.
