Come to Life

Come to Life is the fourth studio album released by Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia. It became the first album to be released on her self-funded label, Malabar Records.

Songwriting

Although recording for the album began in 2009, during promotion for the release of Glorious: The Singles 1997–2007, tracks "Scars" and "My God" were rumoured to have been recorded in 2006. The album took nearly three years to complete. In February 2009, The Sun newspaper rumoured that Imbruglia was collaborating with Chris Martin from Coldplay, and it was later confirmed by Martin himself and people involved in the recording process that he had worked with Imbruglia on a "string of tracks".

Chris Martin wrote the song "Fun" for Natalie. "When he sang it to me, I almost did one of those ugly cries. But I held it together. That's the crazy thing - he wrote it, not me. Who knows what Chris was thinking, you would have to ask him about that. But I thought it was a stunning, beautiful love song". The song "Lukas", produced by Brian Eno and Rik Simpson, was confirmed as an out-take from the recording sessions of Coldplay's fourth studio album, "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". Martin also worked with Imbruglia on "Want", with his voice echoing at the end of the song. "Coldplay write so much material it's quite ridiculous how many songs they have, some of which never get finished because Chris Martin is a bit of a mad genius," Imbruglia explains.

Come to Life (Cities Aviv album)

Come to Life is the first studio album by American hip hop musician Cities Aviv. It was released on Young One Records on January 28, 2014. Music videos were created for "URL IRL" and "Don't Ever Look Back".

Reception

At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Come to Life received an average score of 78% based on 6 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".

Pat Levy of Consequence of Sound said: "Whereas Cities Aviv's last few records have been more sonically challenging, this one flies by with the strongest cohesion of Mays' shout-rap style and the genre-bending production that he consistently finds himself on." Brandon Soderberg of Spin noted that "Burzum-esque screams tear through these noise-damaged dance-rap tracks about the pros and cons of the coming singularity." David Jeffries of AllMusic described it as "an inspired, stick-to-the-bones album that offers a surprising amount of comfort, uplift, and new opportunities."

Haim

Chayyim (Hebrew: חַיִּים Ḥayyīm, Classical Hebrew: [ħajˈjiːm], Israeli Hebrew: [ˈχa.im, ħaˈjim]), also transcribed Haim, Hayim, Chayim, or Chaim (English pronunciations: HYM, KHYM, KHAH-yeem), is a name of Hebrew origin which means "life". Its first usage can be traced to the Middle Ages. It is a popular name among Jewish people. The feminine form for this name is Chaya (Hebrew: חַיָּה Ḥayyah, Classical Hebrew: [ħajˈjaː], Israeli Hebrew: [ˈχaja, ħaˈja]; English pronunciations: HAH-yah, KHAH-yah ).

Chai is the Hebrew word for "alive". According to Kaballah, the name Hayim helps the person to remain healthy, and people were known to add Hayim as their second name to improve their health. (Among Serbians, the name "Vuk", meaning "wolf", as well as Idir ("he will live") among Kabyles, was for similar reasons given to weak and ill neonates.)

In the United States, Chaim is a common spelling; however, since the phonemic pattern is unusual for English words, Hayim is often used as an alternative spelling. The "ch" spelling comes from translation of the Hebrew letter "chet", which also starts words like Chanukah, Channa, etc., which can also be spelled as Hanukah and Hannah. It is cognate to the Arabic word حياة (ḥayāh ), with the same meaning, deriving from the same Proto-Semitic root.

16 to Life

16 to Life is a comedy film directed by Becky Smith and stars Hallee Hirsh as Kate, a bookish teen about to turn 16 who plays match-maker for her friends. Co-stars include: Shiloh Fernandez, Mandy Musgrave, Theresa Russell, Carson Kressley and Nicholas Downs. The film was originally titled “Duck Farm No. 13”, but was changed to appeal to younger audiences; it was filmed primarily in McGregor, Iowa and premiered August 29, 2009 at the Landlocked Film Festival.

Plot summary

It all starts in the morning when it is Kate birthday. She has never had her first kiss. She works in a store at the docks with her best friend who lost her virginity to a player. Kate's goal for her 16th birthday is to have her first kiss, which she does at the end of the movie.

25 To Life is a third-person shooter video game for Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox released in 2006. The game was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Eidos Interactive.

Set in a modern environment, the game allows the player to play as both a cop and a gangster, at different times, in a "cops and robbers" style game. The game can be played online with up to 16 players using the network adaptor for the PS2 and through Xbox Live for Microsoft's Xbox, and there is online play for the PC version as well. In addition, the game features a variety of hip hop songs playing in the background. The name of the game comes from a typical "indeterminate life sentence" that is often given in the United States upon a defendant's conviction for a violent felony.
