Coba Höyük
Coba Höyük, also known as Sakçe Gözü or Sakçagözü, is an archaeological site in southeastern Anatolia. It is located about three kilometres north-west of the modern village of Sakçagözü. The site was occupied in the Pottery Neolithic, Halaf, Ubaid, Late Chalcolithic/Uruk and Neo-Hittite periods.
History
The site appears to have been occupied on and off from the second half of the seventh millennium BC until the first millennium BC. The excavations were small scale and an exact stratigraphical sequence cannot reliably be constructed.
In the first millennium BC the site was part of a Neo-Hittite state, the name of the city is not known. City walls and a palace of the bit-hilani type were found at the site and date to around 730-700 B.C.
Archaeology
The site was first discovered in 1883 by Karl Humann and Felix von Luschan. John Garstang was the first excavator in 1908 and 1911. He was interested in the Hittite material on the surface of the site and discovered the portico of a Hittite palace (a bit hilani), now in Ankara, as well as the earliest excavated Halaf period material culture.
Coba
Coba (pronounced cō-bǝ) is an ancient Maya city on the Yucatán Peninsula, located in what is now northeastern Quintana Roo, Mexico. The site is the nexus of the largest network of stone causeways of the ancient Mayan world, and it contains many engraved and sculpted stelae that document ceremonial life and important events of the Late Classic Period (AD 600–900) of Mesoamerican civilization. The adjacent modern village bearing the same name, reported a population of 1,278 inhabitants in the 2010 Mexican federal census.
Site Layout and Description
The ruins of Coba lie 44 km (approx. 27 mi) northwest of Tulum, in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The geographical coordinates of Coba Group (main entrance for tourist area of the archaeological site) are North 19° 29.6’ and West 87° 43.7’. The archaeological zone is reached by a two-kilometer branch from the asphalt road connecting Tulum with Nuevo Xcán (a community of Lázaro Cárdenas, another municipality of Quintana Roo) on the Valladolid to Cancún highway.
Yasuhiro Kobayashi
Yasuhiro "Coba" Kobayashi (小林 靖宏, Kobayashi Yasuhiro, born April 29, 1959) is a Japanese musician, accordionist, composer and arranger. His music has sold over 1,000,000 CDs. Yasuhiro started playing accordion when he was nine. At the age of 18 he moved to Italy in order to hone his music skills in local educational institution and graduated with honours.
In April 1979 Coba won accordionist contest in Japan, in September he did the same in Italy and in October 1980 he was recognized as the best in Austria.
Coba creates his own music and makes arrangements for famous compositions. In 1990-s he collaborated with Björk recording her album and touring in more than sixty countries. Throughout his career Coba also worked with Goldie, 808 State, Underworld, Plaid and Howie B.
In 1996 French magazine «Nova Magazine» named «Roots» album the best one. In 2001 Coba was awarded «The Best Composer of the Year» for his soundtracks according to Japanese Award Academy. In 2002 he created music for Pokémon. In 2006 Coba was awarded «Voce d’oro» - the prize of «The most active accordionist in the world».
