Coal (from the Old English term col, which has meant "mineral of fossilized carbon" since the 13th century) is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock usually occurring in rock strata in layers or veins called coal beds or coal seams. The harder forms, such as anthracite coal, can be regarded as metamorphic rock because of later exposure to elevated temperature and pressure. Coal is composed primarily of carbon along with variable quantities of other elements, chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen.
Throughout history, coal has been used as an energy resource, primarily burned for the production of electricity and/or heat, and is also used for industrial purposes, such as refining metals. A fossil fuel, coal forms when dead plant matter is converted into peat, which in turn is converted into lignite, then sub-bituminous coal, after that bituminous coal, and lastly anthracite. This involves biological and geological processes that take place over a long period. The United States Energy Information Administration estimates coal reserves at 7011948000000000000♠948×109 short tons (860 Gt). One estimate for resources is 18,000 Gt.
Coal is an American reality television series that aired on Spike. The series debuted on March 30, 2011. The series portrayed the real life events on a coal mine in Westchester, West Virginia, and the inherent dangers involved.
The series was later premiered in the UK on November 8, 2011, via the Discovery Channel UK. It featured owner Mike Crowder along with several employees involved in the mining operation.

Mudvayne is an American heavy metal band from Peoria, Illinois formed in 1996. Originally from Bloomington, Illinois, they are known for their sonic experimentation, innovative album art, face and body paint, masks and uniforms. The band has sold over six million records worldwide, including nearly three million in the United States.
The group consists of Chad Gray (lead vocals), Greg Tribbett (guitar, vocals), Ryan Martinie (bass guitar) and Matthew McDonough (drums). Formed in 1996, Mudvayne became popular in the late-1990s Decatur, Illinois underground music scene. The band released an EP, Kill, I Oughtta, in 1997 and a successful debut album, L.D. 50, in 2000. They had global success with The End of All Things to Come, Lost and Found and The New Game.
Since 2010, the band has been inactive, with its members performing in other projects and making guest appearances. Chad Gray is the vocalist for the heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah, to which Greg Tribbett also belonged until 2014. Gray founded an independent record label, Bullygoat Records, which produces heavy-metal albums. In early 2015, Chad Gray noted that the band's return at the moment seems very unlikely, unless "everybody licked their wounds and got over it".
Mudvayne is the fifth studio album by the American metal band Mudvayne and their most recent to date. It was released on December 21, 2009. The material from the album was recorded simultaneously with the material that appeared on The New Game. "Beautiful And Strange", a single from the band, was made available for streaming on the band's website and MySpace page on October 7, 2009. There was no tour to support the album, which had little promotion; sales were also weak.
Following the release of Lost and Found in 2005, Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett formed the heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah. They released their self-titled album in 2007. The following year Mudvayne released their fourth album The New Game to lukewarm reviews. Chad Gray has said "I love being in two bands. I really do. You get to explore both sides of yourself. I think everybody has this severed half. The kind [that] co-exists outside of your work. I was able to kind of climb into that skin."
The album was produced by Jeremy Parker and David Fortman.
My soul simply wont bleed
Coal blackened walls surround my scene
Hardened, callous ive been stung by bees
Forfeited courage keeps me in need
And i need your soul in black, trust you rape and left me to see
My soul attacked it's innocence deaf and dumb
I cant hear the shit been preached to me
Losses i cound, you rip through from my mind
And take my thoughts from me
My mind, my space inside im lost replaced bliss with catastrophy
Heaven sends to you the seed my mind recieves and accepts deceit
My acceptence sometimes disturbing
My appearence shows no sympathy
Me in this state of mind my balance off balance but i push through this dark
Time i lay awake at night my body trembles
Wrapped with vines
Each tie that binds represents another
Dream demise
Oh fuck i need a handle in my life
I know that there is no esacape for me
This sweating i dont mind
Just fused with insanity
Dark time i lay awake at night my body trembles
Wrapped with vines
Each tie that binds represents another
Dream demise
Oh fuck i need a handle in my life
...in my life
My soul has been caught in the mix of your plague
Hardened, callous ive been stung by bees
Forfeited courage keeps me in need
My soul has been caught in the mix of your plague
