Clouds (Joni Mitchell album)

Clouds is the second studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released on May 1, 1969, by Reprise Records. After releasing her debut album to considerable exposure, Mitchell recorded the album at A&M Studios in Hollywood. She produced most of the album and painted a self-portrait for its cover artwork. Clouds has subtle, unconventional harmonies and songs about lovers, among other themes.

Clouds charted at number 22 in Canada and number 31 in the United States. It has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, for shipments of 500,000 copies in the US. Clouds was generally well received by music critics.

Background

After moving to New York City and signing to Reprise Records in 1967, Mitchell recorded her 1968 debut album Song to a Seagull with producer David Crosby. The album was a mostly acoustic set of songs, some of which were subsequently covered by more successful singers. Consequently, Mitchell received more outside exposure and began to earn a strong cult following.

Four (One Direction album)

Four is the fourth studio album by English-Irish boy band One Direction, released on 17 November 2014 by Columbia Records and Syco Music. Two singles were released from the album, "Steal My Girl" and "Night Changes", both achieving platinum status in the US, and scoring the band their tenth and eleventh UK top-ten hits.

The album received generally positive reviews from music critics. It debuted at number one in 18 countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. The album was also One Direction's last with member Zayn Malik, who announced he was leaving the band on 25 March 2015. In August 2015, Four became the band's fourth consecutive album to sell in excess of 1 million copies in the United States. The band became the first band to have their first four albums debut at number one in the United States.

Background and development

On 27 April 2014, it was confirmed that One Direction were working on their fourth studio album. Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne worked on the majority of the album with songwriters Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, and Jamie Scott, but members Harry Styles and Zayn Malik also co-wrote tracks with Bunetta, Ryan, Scott and producer Johan Carlson. Niall Horan, the fifth member of One Direction, was unable to be involved in writing due to a leg injury.

Redwood (band)

Redwood are an alternative rock band formed in Birmingham, and based in Guildford, Surrey, England, who were active for the majority of the 1990s before finally splitting up in 2000 after their record label Almo Sounds became defunct. The band consisted of Alistair Cowan (vocals / bass), Rob Blackham (guitar / vocals), Angus Cowan (guitar) and Chris Hughes (drums / vocals).

In 1994 Redwood released their first demo, Head, followed in 1995 by a second demo, Asylum. In November 1997 Redwood released their debut album, Colourblind, described by Allmusic as "an impressive debut". They made several radio appearances, including sessions for Jeff Cooper's 'XS' show, which later became Radio2XS.

In September 2000 Redwood released their second album, Redwood, shortly before splitting up.

Rob Blackham went on to be a producer for, most notably, The Cooper Temple Clause.

Alistair and Angus Cowan have since played two acoustic gigs as Redwood, at the Guildford Festival in 2003 and at Surrey University, in May 2004.

Redwood, Ottawa

Redwood is a neighbourhood located in Ottawa's west end. The boundaries of the neighbourhood is Greenbank Road to the east, Baseline Road to the north, Morrison Drive (old Ottawa-Nepean border line) to the west and Highway 417 to the north.

Its sister neighbourhoods are Qualicum, Leslie Park, and Queensway Terrace.

Residential areas and community housing

The majority of residents live in apartments and townhouses located on the east and west ends of the neighbourhood. Detached homes are closer to west side along Morrison Drive.

The development in the area started in the 1960s and continued throughout the 1970s and 1980s. There are many strips of townhouses on Baseline Road and Draper Avenue. Drpaer venue also runs into the Qualicum community.

A community housing project called Morrison Gardens is located between Morrison, Draper, Lisa and Greenbank. The neighbourhood is known for crime due to street gangs mainly at Morrison and Draper. There is a diverse population of Somalis, Latinos and Arabs.

Redwood (Bar Harbor, Maine)

Redwood is a historic summer house at 10 Barberry Lane in Bar Harbor, Maine. Designed by William Ralph Emerson and built in 1879, it was the first Shingle style house built in Bar Harbor, and is one of the oldest of the style in the nation. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Description and history

Redwood is set near the southeastern end of Barberry Lane, south of the main village of Bar Harbor, on a point north of Cromwell Cove that overlooks Frenchman Bay. It is a large 2-1/2 story wood frame structure with a roughly cruciform plan, set on a fieldstone foundation. It has a long north-south axis with roughly centered projections to the east (facing the water) and the west (facing toward the street). The western projection is gabled-roofed, with a second-floor chamber set above a porte-cochere which shelters the main entrance. To its right a tall two-story window rises to a small gabled peak, with an elaborately-decorated brick Queen Anne style chimney to its right. The eastern projection has a polygonal shape, with a semi-pyramidal roofline. The southern elevation has a recessed Palladian window set in a half-timbered upper section. An enclosed single-story polygonal porch projects from the southeast corner of the building. The interior of the house is richly decorated with woodwork.
