Claris Home Page
Claris Home Page (computer software) was one of the earliest true WYSIWYG HTML editors, developed from 1994 on. The project was code-named Loma Prieta.Claris purchased it from San Andreas Systems, reworked it to use the user interface common to all their products, and released it in 1996.
History
Home Page supported all of the features common in HTML at the time. However, the program did not include any sort of template system, nor did it have a system for creating DHTML menus or roll-over effects, which at the time were experimental features only available in very recent browser versions. It also had a number of bugs and display glitches, which Claris did not fix as late as 1997. It improved the table editor and included a clip art library of several thousand images in GIF format. In January 1998, the third and final version of Home Page was released. This version contained templates and tools for building database-driven websites using FileMaker Pro 4.1 and Claris Dynamic Markup Language (CDML).
Claris
Claris was a computer software developer formed as a spin-off from Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) in 1987. It was given the source code and copyrights to several programs that were owned by Apple, notably MacWrite and MacPaint, in order to separate Apple's application software activities from its hardware and operating systems activities.
In 1998 the company divested itself of all but its flagship product, and reformed as FileMaker Inc.
Creation
During the early days of the Macintosh computer, Apple shipped the machines with two basic programs, MacWrite and MacPaint, so that users would have a working machine "out of the box". However, this resulted in complaints from third-party developers, who felt that these programs were good enough for so many users that there was little reason to buy something better.
Apple decided to allow the programs to "wither", so that the third-party developers would have time to write suitable replacements. Unfortunately the developers didn't seem to hold up their end of the bargain, and it was some time before truly capable replacements like WriteNow came along. In the meantime users complained about the lack of upgrades, while the third party developers continued to complain about the possibility of upgrades.
ClariS
ClariS (クラリス, Kurarisu) is a Japanese pop music duo and idol unit which formed in 2009 with singers Clara and Alice from Hokkaido, who were in junior high school at the time. The pair began singing covers and submitting them to the Niconico video sharing website between 2009 and 2010. ClariS later signed to SME Records and released their debut single "Irony" in October 2010. Three more singles were released between 2011 and 2012, followed by their debut album Birthday (2012). Birthday was awarded a Gold Disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for having exceeded 100,000 copies shipped in a single year. Six more singles were released between 2012 and 2014, which were featured on their second album Second Story (2013) and third album Party Time (2014). Alice left the unit following Party Time's release, and Karen joined ClariS in late 2014.
History
2009–2012: Formation and junior high school
ClariS formed in late 2009 as "Alice Clara" when, as first-year junior high school students, Clara and Alice submitted a cover of the Vocaloid song "Step to You" onto the Niconico video sharing website on October 10, 2009. ClariS released seven more covers in 2009. On April 24, 2010, the publisher Sony Magazines under Sony Music Entertainment Japan launched the anime music magazine LisAni! with an attached CD containing the original song "Drop" composed by Kz of Livetune and sung by ClariS. ClariS released five more covers in 2010, ending with the song "Listen!!" from the anime K-On!! as their 13th cover submitted on June 5, 2010. On July 24, 2010, the second issue of LisAni! was released with another attached CD containing the original song "Kimi no Yume o Miyō" (君の夢を見よう), again composed by Kz and sung by ClariS. A single containing both songs was released exclusively at Comiket 78 on August 13, 2010.
