Spokane Intermodal Center

The Spokane Intermodal Center is an intermodal transport facility located in Spokane, Washington, United States. Built in 1891 for the Northern Pacific Railway, the historic facility now serves as a station, re-fueling, and service stop for the Amtrak Empire Builder, as well as the Greyhound and Trailways station for Spokane. The Empire Builder provides service daily between Chicago, Illinois and Spokane before continue on to both Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon.

The intermodal center is unique in the operation of the Empire Builder in that at Spokane, the westbound train is split into two sections; one heads to the King Street Station in Seattle and the other to the Union Station in Portland. Of the cars in the arriving westbound train, the last four Superliner cars (the Sightseer Lounge, two Coaches and a Sleeper car) go to Portland. The eastbound trains use the reverse operation, joining in Spokane before continuing on to east end of the line at the Chicago Union Station in Chicago. (The next eastbound stop is in Sandpoint, Idaho and the next westbound stops are in Ephrata and Pasco.)

Spokane is a film that premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, written and directed by Larry Kennar. The cast included Kyle Bornheimer and Jason Waters. A short film, with a run time of only 29 minutes.

It was awarded an honorable mention in the international shorts category.

A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.

Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.

Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Roger Donaldson

Roger Donaldson (born 15 November 1945) is an Australian-born New Zealand film director, producer and writer whose films include acclaimed 1981 relationship drama Smash Palace and a run of titles shot in the United States, including Kevin Costner starrers No Way Out and Thirteen Days, and 1997 disaster movie Dante's Peak.

Life and career

Donaldson was born in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia and in 1965 emigrated to New Zealand, where he established a small still photography business and began making commercials. Donaldson was also directing documentaries, including an adventure series featuring Everest-conquering New Zealander Edmund Hillary, and his first ventures into drama. Donaldson and actor/director Ian Mune collaborated on a number of projects for television, including anthology series Winners and Losers, based on short stories by New Zealand authors.

In 1976 Donaldson directed and produced his first feature Sleeping Dogs. The film starred Mune and Sam Neill as two men fighting for their lives in a totalitarian New Zealand. He followed it with Smash Palace, starring Bruno Lawrence as a man who kidnaps his daughter after his marriage disintegrates.
