Chūō-ku

Chūō-ku (中央区 Chūō-ku) is a common ward name in many large Japanese cities. It can be translated to mean "central district."

Chūō (中央区, Chūō-ku) is one of 9 wards of Kobe City in Japan. It has an area of 28.46 km², and a population of 127,602 with 74,814 households as of January 31, 2012. The ward was formed from the 1980 merger of the former Fukiai-ku and Ikuta-ku.

The Consulate-General of Panama in Kobe is located on the eighth floor of the Moriyama Building in Chūō-ku. Also in the ward are the headquarters of Sumitomo Rubber Industries and Sysmex Corporation, a global medical devices manufacturing company.

Zhuo ([ʈʂwǒ]) is the Mandarin pinyin romanization of the Chinese surname written 卓 in Chinese character. It is romanized Cho in Wade–Giles, Cheuk in Cantonese, and Toh in Minnan. Zhuo is listed 277th in the Song dynasty classic text Hundred Family Surnames. As of 2008, it is the 224th most common surname in China, shared by 360,000 people.

CHUO-FM

CHUO-FM is a Canadian community-based campus radio station, broadcasting at 89.1 FM in Ottawa, on Rogers digital cable on channel 943, via RealAudio stream and in MP3. It is the campus radio station of the University of Ottawa, a member of the National Campus and Community Radio Association in Canada, and a member of the world community radio association AMARC.

CHUO's studios are located on the campus of the University of Ottawa, while its transmitter is located in Camp Fortune, Quebec.

History

The station began as a radio club transmitting as CHOR, an AM carrier current station on 670 kHz in 1975 on the University of Ottawa campus. By 1984 CHOR was known as CFUO which started cable-casting and could be heard on closed circuit in the university's student residences. It was subsequently awarded a broadcast license by the CRTC, and began broadcasting at 89.1 FM on May 31, 1991.

The station is bilingual, broadcasting in both of Canada's official languages; English and French. CHUO's programming is composed of 45% English programming, 45% French programming and 10% in third languages.
