Chris Stewart (author)

Christopher Stewart (born 1951) was the original drummer and a founding member of Genesis. He is now a farmer and an author.

Background and musical career

A classmate of Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel at Charterhouse School in Surrey, Stewart joined them in a school band called the Garden Wall, and they later formed another band with schoolmates Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, called Anon. This band eventually became Genesis in January 1967. Stewart appears on the band's first two singles, "The Silent Sun"/"That's Me" and "A Winter's Tale"/"One-Eyed Hound." Although several demos from Stewart's time with Genesis appear on the Genesis Archive 1967-75 box set, he is not credited with playing on any of them.

Farmer and author

At the recommendation of Jonathan King, Stewart was asked to leave the band in the summer of 1968 due to poor technique and he was replaced by John Silver. After travelling and working throughout Europe, Stewart settled and bought a farm named El Valero in the Alpujarras region of Andalucia, where he lives and works with his wife Ana Exton and daughter Chloë. He came in last place for the position of local councillor in the 27 May 2007 local elections in Órgiva representing the Green Party, where he received 201 votes (roughly 8%).

Chris Stewart (born April 7, 1961) is a Canadian ice hockey coach. He is currently the head coach of the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL.

As a head coach, Stewart has won three Ray Miron President's Cups. He won his first Central Hockey League championship with the 1998–99 Huntsville Channel Cats, and won two more with the Colorado Eagles (then of the CHL) in 2004–05 and 2006–07.

Christopher David "Chris" Stewart (born February 19, 1982) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). Stewart has also played in the majors for the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. He stands 6'4" and weighs 210 lbs.

Amateur career

Born in Fontana, California, Stewart attended Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California. After graduating high school in 2000, Stewart attended Riverside Community College for one season before turning professional. During his freshman season at Riverside, Stewart hit .361 with a .509 slugging percentage.

Professional career

Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox selected Stewart in the 12^th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with the White Sox that year on August 18. Stewart began his professional career in 2002 with the Chicago White Sox rookie-level affiliate, the Bristol White Sox of the Appalachian League. With Bristol, Stewart batted .278 with 25 runs, 44 hits, nine doubles, one home run and 12 runs batted in (RBIs). On defense that season, Stewart committed eight errors in 377 total chances. During the 2003 season, Stewart was assigned to the Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Class-A Advanced Carolina League.
