"Chocolate Cake" is a 1991 song by Australasian rock group Crowded House from their 1991 album Woodface. The song was not originally intended as the lead single, as it was intended for "It's Only Natural" to be the lead track. However, despite this, "Chocolate Cake" was released as the album's lead single. Despite performing marginally better than the singles from Temple of Low Men in the United States, the song was thought to offend due to its lyrics and the song gained only moderate performance in the US, as it referred to Americans having an "excess of fat on your American bones". The song reached number two on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart, while reaching #20 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, #62 on the Danish chart and #69 on the UK Singles Chart.
The B-sides featured are "As Sure as I Am", a song from Woodface, and "Anyone Can Tell", which was intended for release on the album however was not released due to the amalgamation of the Woodface project with the Finn Brothers project. The song later appeared on the rarities collection Afterglow and was released as its lead promotional single.
Chocolate cake is a cake flavored with melted chocolate and/or cocoa powder.
Chocolate cake is made with chocolate; it can be made with other ingredients, as well. These ingredients include fudge, vanilla creme, and other sweeteners. The history of chocolate cake goes back to 1764, when Dr. James Baker discovered how to make chocolate by grinding cocoa beans between two massive circular millstones.
In 1828, Conrad Van Houten of the Netherlands developed a mechanical extraction method for extracting the fat from cacao liquor resulting in cacao butter and the partly defatted cacao, a compacted mass of solids that could be sold as it was "rock cacao" or ground into powder. The processes transformed chocolate from an exclusive luxury to an inexpensive daily snack. A process for making silkier and smoother chocolate called conching was developed in 1879 by Rodolphe Lindt and made it easier to bake with chocolate as it amalgamates smoothly and completely with cake batters. Until 1890 to 1900, chocolate recipes were mostly for drinks.
Chocolate cake is a dessert cake made using chocolate.

The Chocolate Cake is a novelty shooter which combines the flavors of Frangelico liqueur, lemon, and white sugar to create the convincing impression of a chocolate cake. Sucking the sugared lemon tends to concentrate the flavor of the Frangelico.
A popular alternative method is to use lemon vodka and brown or white sugar. White sugar is more usually available in bars and homes, because brown sugar has a limited open shelf life.
It is advisable for the drink to be "loose strained" (allowing ice chips to fall into the drink) after shaking, so that the "bite" of the alcohol does not overwhelm the experience of the drink.
