Moana (1926 film)

Moana (pronounced [ˈmo.ana]) is a 1926 American documentary film, or more strictly a work of docufiction, that was directed by Robert J. Flaherty, the creator of Nanook of the North (1922).

Description

Moana was filmed in Samoa in the villages of Safune district on the island of Savai'i. The name of the lead male character, moana means 'deep water' in the Samoan language. In making the film, Flaherty lived with his wife and collaborator Frances and their three daughters in Samoa for more than a year. Flaherty arrived in Samoa in April 1923 and stayed until December 1924, with the film being completed in December 1925.

Hoping that Flaherty could repeat the success of Nanook, Paramount Pictures sent him to Samoa to capture the traditional life of the Polynesians on film. Flaherty reportedly arrived with 16 tons of filmmaking equipment. This included both a regular movie camera and a Prizma color camera, as Flaherty hoped to film some footage in that color process, but the Prizmacolor camera malfunctioned.

House of Moana

The House of Moana is a princely line of the Islands of Hawaii. The line begins with Moana kāne (sometimes Moanakāne), the son of the former aliʻi nui of the island, Keākealani Kāne and is also the name of the ruler's granddaughter. Moana kāne and Moana Wahine's descendants include many, if not most of the monarchs from the House of Kamehameha. In the Hawaiian language "moana" means: "ocean". The word combines moe and ana (a lying down) and can also mean the act of prostrating one's self by leaning forward on one's hands and knees in the presence of a chief. Also meaning the act of worship. Ku-hai-moana is the most famous of the Hawaiian shark gods.

Origins of the House of Moana

Moana (k) is directly descended from Aliʻi ʻAimoku, Liloa through both of the high chief's two sons. From Liloa's first born son Hakau, Kaleiheana is descended. From Liloa's grandson Keawenuiaumi, is descended Keākealani Kāne. Kaleiheana is a step sister of Alapainui. The couple's son would be referred to similarly as his father with the addition of the word or title kāne, meaning: male or husband and is also the name of the leading Hawaiian god. Moana Kāne married Piʻilaniwahine and from their union the chiefly lines of Piʻilani and the full Liloa/Umi/Hakau lines are merged. The couple had three children, ʻIlikiāmoana, Lonoamoana and Kapuniamoana.

Love! (Thelma Love Song Collection)

Love!: Thelma Love Song Collection is a compilation of love songs by Thelma Aoyama. It was released on February 11, 2009 in Japan and became her first #1 album on the Japanese Oricon Weekly Chart. The last track "Again" is a cover of the Janet Jackson song of the same name. The album was preceded by the four singles "Soba ni Iru ne" (そばにいるね, I'm by Your Side), "Nando mo" (何度も, How Many Times), "Mamoritai Mono" (守りたいもの, Guy I Wanna Protect) and "Daikkirai Demo Arigatou" (大っきらい でもありがと, I Hate You, But Thanks). The DVD section includes music videos for these singles. The album is certified Gold for shipment of 100,000 copies.

Jana Kramer

Jana Rae Kramer (born December 2, 1983) is an American actress and country music singer. She is best known for her role as Alex Dupre on the television series One Tree Hill. Kramer began a country music career in 2012 with the single "Why Ya Wanna" from her self-titled debut album for Elektra Records.

Early life

Kramer was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, United States, to Nora and Martin Kramer. She is of German Chilean, Croatian and French ancestry. Jana has one brother Steve who is a police officer. Jana attended Rochester Adams High School. She speaks some German.

Career

2002–11: acting career and record deal

In 2002, Kramer made her acting debut in the low-budget independent horror film Dead/Undead. The following year Kramer guest appeared on All My Children, which marked Kramer's television debut. Kramer has since continued to appear in a number of television shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and CSI: NY. She has also had small supporting roles in films such as Click, Prom Night and Spring Breakdown.

Love (Angels & Airwaves album)

Love is the third studio album by alternative rock band Angels & Airwaves. It was released on February 12, 2010 on Fuel TV, and on February 14 on Modlife. The album was released free of charge due to "corporate underwriting". A "special edition" hard copy version of the album was scheduled for release on March 22, 2011, along with a second disc containing new music from the band. This was announced at a Q & A for the movie, which stated that it would be pushed back to Fall of 2011.

Production

On January 12, 2010, the band released a promotional video entitled "C:\Transmission_Love", which contained a short preview of The Flight of Apollo.

Release and special editions

In May 2009, it was announced that the album would be released on Christmas Day. However, on July 19, 2009, DeLonge announced via Modlife that the album will not be released on Christmas Day as previously planned, and instead will be released on Valentine's Day. The album was released free of charge through Modlife on Valentine's Day 2010.

Child (archetype)

The child archetype is a Jungian archetype, first suggested by psychologist Carl Jung. In more recent years, author Caroline Myss has suggested that the child, out of the four survival archetypes (victim, prostitute, and saboteur), is present in all humans. According to Myss, its presence ranges from "childish to childlike longing for the innocent, regardless of age" and comprises sub-archetypes: "wounded child", "abandoned or orphan child", "dependent child", "magical/innocent child", "nature child", "divine child", and "eternal child".

Jung placed the "child" (including the child hero) in a list of archetypes that represent milestones in individuation. Jungians exploring the hero myth have noted that "it represents our efforts to deal with the problem of growing up, aided by the illusion of an eternal fiction". Thus for Jung, "the child is potential future", and the child archetype is a symbol of the developing personality.

Others have warned, however, of the dangers posed to the parents drawn in by the "divine child" archetype – the belief of extraordinary potential in a child. The child, idealized by parents, eventually nurtures a feeling of superiority.
