Chic (foaled February 27, 2000) is a chestnut Thoroughbred racehorse. A filly, she is owned and bred by Cheveley Park Stud and was trained by Sir Michael Stoute. Out of the mare Exclusive, winner of the 1998 Group One Coronation Stakes, Chic was sired by Machiavellian, a French champion at age two who was a son of the very influential American sire Mr. Prospector. She is a half-sister to Echelon, the 2007 Matron Stakes winner, and is closely related to Entrepreneur, the 1997 2,000 Guineas winner.
Chic won the 2004 Hungerford Stakes and the Celebration Mile, taking the latter again in 2005. She remains the only horse to have back-to-back wins in this race. In 2007 Chic's half sister Echelon also went on to win this race. In Chic's short career she earned £281,600 in prize money, and won 6 times from 20 starts.
Kos or Cos (English pronunciation: /kɒs/) (Greek: Κως, Greek pronunciation: [kos]) is a Greek island, part of the Dodecanese island chain in the southeastern Aegean Sea, off the Anatolian coast of Turkey. Kos is the third largest of the Dodecanese by area, after Rhodes and Karpathos; it has a population of 33,388 (2011 census), making it the second most populous of the Dodecanese, after Rhodes. The island measures 40 by 8 kilometres (25 by 5 miles), and is 4 km (2 miles) from the coast of the ancient region of Caria in Turkey. Administratively, Kos constitutes a municipality within the Kos regional unit, which is part of the South Aegean region. The principal town of the island and seat of the municipality is Kos town.
The name Kos (Greek: Κῶς, genitive Κῶ) is first attested in the Iliad, and has been in continuous use since. Other ancient names include Meropis, Cea, and Nymphaea.
In many Romance languages, Kos was formerly known as Stancho, Stanchio, or Stinco, and in Ottoman and modern Turkish it is known as İstanköy, all from the Greek expression εις την Κω 'to Kos';cf. the similar Stamboul and Stimpoli, Crete. Under the rule of the Knights Hospitaller of Rhodes, it was known as Lango or Langò, presumably because of its length. In The Travels of Sir John Mandeville, the author misunderstands this, and treats Lango and Kos as distinct islands.
The Slavic word for "blackbird", kos (kosъ, кос) also appears in various toponyms:
Ákos is a Hungarian name. Today, it is mainly a masculine given name.
It may refer to:
You can go out
Have a drink or two
Get real good at shootin pool
Stay out as late as you want to
When you’re single
You can take a trip to Vegas any day
Pick any coast and go catch some waves
Everybody says you’ve got it made
When you’re single
‘Til you’re coming home
To an empty house
Chips on the sofa
Just thinking about
What you had, what it was
That made you let her slip right through your hands
When you’re single
You’d trade it all to fall in love again
Its not easy
Knowing that you walked away from it all
I bet she’s out with somebody just laughing
Taking every bit of life on in now
She’s falling for him
While you’re coming home
To an empty house
Chips on the sofa
Just thinking about
What you had, what it was
That made you let her slip right through your hands
When you’re single
You’d trade it all to fall in love again
When you’re single you’d trade it all to fall in love again
Yeah I’m single and I’d trade it all to have you back again
