Cheesy (album)

Cheesy is a solo album by En Esch of KMFDM and Slick Idiot. It was released on August 31, 1993, on Wax Trax!/TVT.

History

Six tracks were recorded in Hamburg, Germany, with Günter Schulz and KMFDM's then-engineer Blank Fontana: "Cum", "Gypsy Queen", "Ich Bin", "Rule the Mob", "Granola", and "The Past Is Beyond Recovery". These tracks would have comprised En Esch's half of the KMFDM album Apart. Wax Trax! Records rejected Esch's tracks for not sounding enough like KMFDM. Instead, Sascha Konietzko added additional songs and remixes to those he had recorded for Apart and changed the name of the album to Money. The rest of the tracks for what was initially called Cheesy Fun were recorded later in various locations to fill out what then became Esch's solo album.

The track "Ich Bin" was sampled and used in the Pigface song "Alles Ist Mein" on the album Fook.

"@" (album)

"@" is a studio album by John Zorn and Thurston Moore. It is the first collaborative album by the duo and was recorded in New York City in February, 2013 and released by Tzadik Records in September 2013. The album consists of improvised music by Zorn and Moore that was recorded in the studio in real time with no edits or overdubs.

Reception

Allmusic said "@ finds two of New York City's longest-running fringe dwellers churning out sheets of collaborative sounds that conjoin their respective and distinct states of constant freak-out... These seven improvisations sound inspired without feeling at all heavy-handed or urgent. More so, @ succeeds with the type of conversational playing that could only be achieved by two masters so deep into their craft that it probably feels a lot like breathing to them by now".

Album

Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, then from 1948 as vinyl LP records played at 33 ¹⁄₃ rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century albums sales have mostly focused on compact disc (CD) and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used in the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl.

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Recording may take a few hours to several years to complete, usually in several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", allow for reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. The majority of studio recordings contain an abundance of editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, musicians can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.

Cheesy (video game)

Cheesy is a platform game published by Ocean Software and developed by CTA Developments for the PlayStation. It was released in Europe on November, 1996 and in Japan on July 24, 1997.

Cheesy is a third-person, 3D platform game that stars a mouse named Cheesy who has been captured by a mad scientist for his genetic experiments. However, aliens attack the castle and in the commotion Cheesy escapes.

Plot

The central character in this game is a mouse called Cheesy, who is trapped inside Dr Chem's castle where he must walk the treadmill to provide power for the mad scientist's genetic experiments.

However, aliens attack the castle and in the commotion Cheesy escapes. Cheesy has to navigate through 24 levels and fight mutated creatures, huge spiders, balance a minecart through derelict tracks and escape flames inside a burning chimney.

Gameplay

Cheesy contains 24 levels including a range of minigames such as “mine cart chases”. The game features a number of viewpoints that include 2D parallax, isometric 3D, top down 3D and a first person perspective playing angle.
