Channel One News

Channel One News is a digital content provider. The daily news program has been accompanied by commercial advertising for marketing in schools, with supplementary educational resources. The Peabody and Telly Award-winning Channel One News program is broadcast to approximately 5 million young people in upper elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools across the United States. Channel One News is now also available advertising-free through a subscription. On May 13, 2014, it was sold for an undisclosed price to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

History

Channel One was founded in 1989 and began with a pilot program in four high schools before its national rollout in 1990, with original anchors and reporters Ken Rogers, Lynne Blades and Brian Tochi. It was founded by Christopher Whittle, an advertising and marketing executive based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Primedia purchased Channel One for approximately $250 million from Whittle in 1994.

The program's first executive producer, Cynthia Samuels, came to Channel One from 9 years at the Today Show. While at Channel One she created Student Producer Week—during which students produced, reported, directed and designed an entire week of programming—Channel One's one-hour specials including one in Moscow and Ohio, one in Tokyo and Texas, one in Los Angeles after the Rodney King riots hosted by Arsenio Hall and OneVote—an "election night" for students to vote for President and watch the returns come in live from their classrooms.

Channel One News is an Hindi-language 24/7 News television channel, owned by BAG India Limted. The channel is free-to-air and launched on 19 March 2015. The channel is available across all major cable and DTH platforms as well as online.

One News (New Zealand)

One News is the news division of New Zealand television network TVNZ. The service is broadcast live from TVNZ Centre in Auckland. The flagship news bulletin is the nightly 6 pm news hour, but One News also has midday and late night news bulletins, as well as current affairs shows such as Breakfast and Seven Sharp.

The 6 pm programme is New Zealand's most-watched news programme. As of July 2008, it has a market share of 44% (651,400+ each night).

One News was awarded Best News in the Qantas Media Awards from 2008 through 2011 and won Best Breaking News in the New Zealand Film and Television Awards 2012.

History

Television news in New Zealand started in 1960 with the introduction of television. These bulletins were broadcast from New Zealand's four main cities (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin) operating independently of each other due to technical constraints. The Wahine Disaster in April 1968 highlighted the need for a nationwide news network; footage shot in Wellington could not be broadcast in other centres around the country at the same time.

Channel One Russia

Channel One (Russian: Первый канал; Russian pronunciation: [ˈpʲɛrvɨj kɐˈnɑl], (literally First Channel, 1991-2002 as Public Russian Television Programme 1) is the first television channel to broadcast in the Russian Federation. The channel replaced the channel "Ostankino" that broadcast after the Soviet Union broke up in 1991 as a successor to the First Channel of the central television of the USSR. It has its headquarters in the Technical Center "Ostankino" near the Ostankino Tower, Moscow. Although for everything, Channel One Russia keeps its programme from year 1995 to 2016. Last,Channel One Russia discontinued its show Russian Roulette in July 13, 2003.

First among Russia's country-wide channels, Channel One has more than 250 million viewers worldwide. It implemented 16:9 broadcast format on 4 January 2011 to 1 June 2011 and 10 October 2011 on satellite and digital cable broadcasting, and 14:9 on analogue broadcasting.

From 1995 to 2002 the channel was known as Public Russian Television (Russian: Общественное Российское Телевидение, ORT) or Russian Public Television.

Channel One (formerly TV One) is a television channel in Albania.

Before establishing the new channel, Channel One was called TV One and before that Junior TV, a 24-hour news television. In late 2012, the channel was closed and within a month, the strategy and name changed, with new studios being built.

One of the changes included changing the picture format to 16:9 widescreen.
