Fur Fighters

Fur Fighters is a video game developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Acclaim for the Dreamcast in 2000, then later for Microsoft Windows. The game was designed very much as a standard third-person shooter, but used a world populated by cute little animals as its setting. As a result, the game's depiction of violence is very cartoon-like without losing any of its intensity. In 2001, an updated version for the PlayStation 2 was released as Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge. On July 20, 2012, members of Muffin Games, ex-Bizarre Creations staff, announced a conversion for iPad, called Fur Fighters: Viggo on Glass.

Jang (Korean surname)

Jang, Chang, and (less often) Zang are romanizations of the common Korean surname 장, previously several separate surnames derived from the Chinese surnames Zhang (Hanja 張), Zhang (章), Zhuang (莊), and Jiang (蔣).

Romanization

In a study by the National Institute of the Korean Language based on 2007 application data for South Korean passports, it was found that 84.5% of people with this surname spelled it in Latin letters as Jang in their passports. Another 14.9% spelled it as Chang, and 0.2% as Zhang. Rare alternative spellings included Jahng and Jean.

Distribution

During the 2000 South Korean Census, there were more than 940,000 people in South Korea–more than 2% of the general population–with this surname, most written with the hanja 張.

Jang is a relatively common surname in the United States and was listed 5,531st overall during the 2000 US Census. Zang was much less common and ranked 14,627th.

Chang is a common surname in the United States and was listed 424th overall and 11th among Asian and Pacific Islanders in 2000. However, the vast majority of these were Chinese Americans going by the Wade-Giles romanization of the Chinese surname.

Chang'e

Chang'e or Chang-o, originally known as Heng'e, is the Chinese goddess of the Moon. She is the subject of several legends in Chinese mythology, most of which incorporate several of the following elements: Houyi the archer, a benevolent or malevolent emperor, an elixir of life, and of course, the Moon. In modern times, Chang'e has been the namesake of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program.

Tales

There are many tales about Chang'e, including a well-known story which is given as the origin of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. In the very distant past, the ten sons of the Jade Emperor were transformed into ten suns, which rose in the heavens and scorched the earth, thus causing hardship for the people. The archer Yi (Houyi) shot down nine of them, leaving just one sun, and was given the elixir of immortality as a reward. He did not consume it straight away, but hid it at home, as he did not want to gain immortality without his beloved wife Chang'e. However, while Yi went out hunting, his apprentice Fengmeng broke into his house and tried to force Chang'e to give him the elixir; she refused and drank it herself. Chang'e then flew upwards towards the heavens, choosing the moon as residence. Yi discovered what had transpired and felt sad, so he displayed the Fruits and Cakes that Chang'e had liked, and gave sacrifices to her.

Chang'e 4

Chang'e 4 (Chinese: 嫦娥四号; pinyin: Cháng'é sìhào) will be a Chinese lunar exploration mission, incorporating a robotic lander and rover. Chang'e 4 will be China's second lunar lander and rover, and built as a backup to Chang'e 3, as Chang'e 2 was to Chang'e 1. Following the successful landing of the Chang'e 3 mission, the configuration of Chang'e 4 will be adjusted to test equipment in advance of Chang'e 5. Like its predecessors, the spacecraft is named after the Chinese moon goddess Chang'e.

The mission was scheduled for launch in 2015 as part of the second phase of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program but the adjusted design of the mission now means it will be before 2020. The adjusted aims will now include piloting a program that uses private investment from individuals and enterprises for the first time, a move aimed at accelerating aerospace innovation, cutting production costs and promoting military-civilian relationships.

An engineer from Chinese Academy of Sciences said the mission's objective would be to study geological conditions on the far side of the Moon. The potential landing spots include the Aitken Basin.
