Champion Energy Services, LLC is a retail electricity provider (REP) based in Houston, Texas. Champion Energy currently serves residential, governmental, commercial and industrial customers in deregulated electric energy markets in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York; governmental, commercial and industrial customers in Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C.; and natural gas customers in Illinois. The company is a subsidiary of Calpine.

History

Champion Energy Services, LLC was first licensed by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) in 2004. After entering the market in 2005, Champion has seen strong growth and currently serves around 2,000,000 residential customer equivalents, with a peak load of near 4,500 megawatts.

Products and Services

Champion Energy Services offers a variety of retail plans depending on the market served and the customer classification. All markets and customer classifications can select fixed price plans that allow customers to lock in your electricity rate for the term of the agreement. These fixed price plans provide the greatest price stability. Renewable energy options are also available for all markets and customer classifications. For commercial customers, more complex options are available including index, hybrid (fixed and index combinations), block and index, and layered purchase options. These plans are customer-specific plans that require greater customer involvement and have a substantially different risk profile than fixed price plans.

Relationship to energy in physics

Energy in this context is not, strictly speaking, the same as the conventional notion of energy in physics and the other sciences. The two concepts are, however, closely related, and it is possible to convert from one to the other:

For example, if x(t) represents the potential (in volts) of an electrical signal propagating across a transmission line, then Z would represent the characteristic impedance (in ohms) of the transmission line. The units of measure for the signal energy would appear as volt²·seconds, which is not dimensionally correct for energy in the sense of the physical sciences. After dividing by Z, however, the dimensions of E would become volt²·seconds per ohm, which is equivalent to joules, the SI unit for energy as defined in the physical sciences.

"Energy" contains samples from Eazy-Duz-It performed by Eazy-E and Ridin Spiners performed by Three 6 Mafia. Energy was produced by Boi-1da and OB O'Brien. According to WhoSampled the song samples the score of an episode of The O.C..

Critical reception

"Energy" received acclaim from music critics with many calling it the best song of the album. Ryan Dombal of Pitchfork gave the song a positive review and named it "Best New Track", stating "The song isn't aimed to any rappers or pop stars, not Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean or Tyga, but the song lines are dangerous."

"Energy" is a song performed by American singer Melissa Manchester, from her 1985 album Mathematics.

Details

The song was arranged by veteran songwriter Greg Mathieson and was released as the second single from the album, following the underperformance of the lead single "Mathematics", MCA hoped to reverse the album's fortune by releasing this Hi-NRG track with an aim for the club market.

Melissa Manchester filmed a videoclip to promote the song, which sees the singer and her band in a sort of industrial-setting stage performing the song.

The single was released on 7" and 12" formats featuring remixes, but it failed to chart either on the Billboard Hot 100 or the dance charts, and failed to chart elsewhere. The b-side to the single was a non-album song, called "So Full Of Yourself", which was co-written by Manchester and Tom Snow and used as the b-side to all 3 singles off the album.

Champion (novel)

Champion is a dystopian young adult novel and the third and final book in the Legend trilogy by novelist Marie Lu. It was released on 5 November 2013.

Plot

After Day has a severe headache (caused by his disease), he reveals to June that he has months to live. However, while they are talking, Denver gets attacked by the Colonies. After making it to a bunker reserved for the wealthy, they discover that Tess and several other Patriots are being held there. Day gets the authority to lead them on a mission to sabotage the Colonies, and they destroy a nearby Colonies airbase. Meanwhile, June and Anden head to Ross City, Antarctica in hopes of finding allies. The only offer Anden receives, however, is to give up some of the Republic's land in exchange for military support.

After another severe headache that was triggered by an explosion, Day is contacted by the Chancellor of the Colonies. He is blackmailed, and if he doesn't tell the people to revolt against the Republic, June and Eden will die.The Chancellor gives Day a three-day ceasefire. Right after the call ends, Tess is put into quarantine because she has become infected by the plague running rampant in the Colonies.

Champion, shampion or sampion is a hybrid cultivar of domesticated apple developed c. 1960 in Czech republic from crossing a Golden Delicious and a Cox Orange Pippin. Variety is characterized by a non-uniform skin color.
