Chalk Farm is a small urban district of northwest London, England immediately north of Camden Town and currently split equally between the electoral wards of Camden Town and Primrose Hill in the south and Haverstock in the north.
The land slopes upwards more steeply to the north-west and abruptly to form a knoll to the south-west which is Primrose Hill. Chalk Farm tube station is the closest underground network station to all parts, the defining criterion. This is true of much of the therefore loosely more Chalk Farm-associated upmarket western residential definition and green (Regents Park definition) of Primrose Hill. The south of the area has regular residents on its broadest definition, capable therefore, of including Jude Law, Sadie Frost and Sienna Miller among the highest-grossing early 21st century 'Camden set' of writers, artists and actors, but equally parts of both wards have some stubborn poverty and a significant minority of their housing is social housing.
Chalk FarM is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles that released two albums in the late 1990s. The band broke up in 2000.
They are best known for their song Lie On Lie, which was played for a short time on MTV in late 1996 and received radio airplay in the United States nationwide. Among the musicians the group opened for were Joe Walsh and Seal. Despite critical approval and a cult following, the album did not sell well, and the band was dropped from major label Columbia Records soon thereafter.
Chalk farM appear as the band playing at the conclusion of the film Coyote Ugly.
According to Chalk farM's Facebook page, the 4 original members are back together, playing regularly in the Los Angeles area, and are "doing a new record."
On February 21st 2014, Orlando Sims died after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Chalk Farm (disambiguation) may refer to:
The Chalk Farm Band is brass band of the Salvation Army located at the Salvation Army Centre in Haverstock Hill, Chalk Farm, London, England. It is one of the best known brass bands of the Salvation Army in the UK.
Chalk Farm Band has always been at the forefront of Salvation Army banding.
Indeed, as early as 1898, just sixteen years after its formation in 1882, it was first featured as the solo band for a Salvation Army International Congress. The venue was London's Crystal Palace and the band was led by a youthful A W Punchard. This notable achievement proved to be a prelude to far greater accomplishments, for during the next fifty years, Bandmaster Punchard led the band in many pioneering developments that influenced the life and growth of Salvation Army bands worldwide. Particularly notable were the trail-blazing overseas tours over thirty of which have been completed to date.
During the 1930s, the band's progress became a model to be emulated by music sections throughout the world, no doubt as a result of extensive touring of Scandinavia and Central Europe. AWP was also regarded as the model bandmaster and was appointed National Bandmaster in 1922, a position he held until his Promotion to Glory in 1950.
