Starring Jeetendra, Mala Sinha, Biswajit, Mumtaz in the lead roles and music composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. This is the only Black & White film of Jeetendra in his entire carrier.

Roop Rathore (Shahrukh Khan) is a singer in Bombay just like his father (Anupam Kher), who is now sick and needs immediate medical care. One day, while he is singing at Ajay Narang's (Naseeruddin Shah) hotel, Ajay's sister Reshma (Ramya Krishnan) falls in love with Roop. Reshma is a spoiled girl and Ajay looks through all of her wishes. Unfortunately, Roop is in love with a doctor named Pooja (Pooja Bhatt). Meanwhile, Reshma is obsessed with Roop, and asks her brother to call him again to sing in their hotel. But when she sees that all the girls are flattered over Roop, she gets very angry, and asks him to sing only for her now onwards. But Roop would rather work for rival Patel (Shri Vallabh Vyas) than take this offer. Ajay's obsession with keeping his sister happy at all costs comes into play and Patel is brutally beaten by him until he agrees to throw Roop out of his hotel. Desperately in need of money for his father's operation, Roop has no option but to agree to Reshma. Roop breaks up with Pooja.

Jeet Gannguli (born Chandrajeet Ganguly, Bengali: চন্দ্রজিৎ গাঙ্গুলী), popularly known as Jeet, is a music composer and singer of Bengali and Hindi movies. Gannguli was initiated into the world of music at the age of three. He was a student of Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School from where he completed his schooling. Later he graduated from the University of Calcutta. He is trained in Indian classical music under the guidance of his father Kali Ganguly and his pisima (father's sister) Shibani Roychowdhury. He studied western classical music, jazz and rock with jazz guitarist Karlton Kitto. Gannguli is a music director in Bollywood, scoring music for films.
Gannguli got his first break when Sanjay Gadhvi was signed on to direct Tere Liye and he, in turn, signed on his friends Jeet Gannguli and Pritam as music composers. In 2002 Yash Raj Films signed Gadhvi up to direct Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, for which the Gannguli-Pritam duo composed the music.
After the duo parted ways, Jeet has started scoring music for Hindi and Bengali films, TV serials and jingles. Jeet Gannguli is currently managed by Tarsame Mittal Talent Management. Jeet Ganguly has also composed music for a single track sung by well known singer Sonu Nigam,'aa bhi ja tu kahin se'.
