Central Park Place

Central Park Place is a 56-story condominium building in New York City. The building was completed in 1988, and is located at 301 West 57th Street (between Eighth Avenue & Ninth Avenue)." It is one of the one hundred tallest buildings in New York City, standing at 628 feet (191 m) tall.

In 1987, during the construction of Central Park Place, a piece of lumber was dislodged from one of the higher floors during wind storm and hit a 37-year-old man in the head while he was walking on the east side of 8th Avenue opposite the building. He sustained massive brain trauma and died. The City of New York halted construction to investigate the incident. The builder, losing money because of the work stoppage, sued the city. The consequence of this tragedy was a new requirement that all tall building construction projects were required to place netting over any open areas to prevent the accidental loss of debris from the higher floors.

The architectural firm responsible for the building is Davis Brody Bond and was developed by William Zeckendorf.

Central Park (Kolkata)

Central Park situated in Bidhannagar is a public urban park. It is also known as Banabitan. It is the second largest open space in the city of Kolkata after the Maidan. It is a favorite hangout for lovers. This park is easily reachable from the Karunamoyee bus stand in Salt Lake – the Central Park Kolkata Metro station is projected to work in 2015. On the roads surrounding the park are the buildings where the West Bengal government has relocated many government departments.

The park is built around an expansive water body. There is a bridge which connects on side of the lake to an island which has a pagoda. The lake serves as a haven for water birds like lesser whistling duck, common moorhen, egrets, cormorants and other species. There are also boating facilities in a cordoned off section of the lake near the rose garden.

The park has a very beautiful rose garden (near Gate No.1, opposite Bikash Bhawan). The rose garden is bordered by rows of hedges surrounding the rose plants. When in bloom, the rose flowers present a delightful sight.

Parks and open spaces in Havering

The London Borough of Havering is a London borough in northeast London, England. Part of Outer London, much of its area is protected from development by the Metropolitan Green Belt and more than half the borough is now parkland. Its parks and open spaces range from the large urban park to village greens and there are more than a hundred of them in total, mostly in the care of Havering London Borough Council, but some by other organisations. Part of the extensive community forest known as Thames Chase is also within the borough and a large new regional parkland is currently under development, called Wildspace. Bethpage (LIRR station)

Bethpage Station is a station along the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located at Stewart Avenue and Jackson Avenue, in Bethpage, New York, and serves Ronkonkoma Branch trains. Trains that travel along the Central Branch also use these tracks, but none stop here.

History

Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) tracks were completed on the present line in 1841. At first trains did not stop here, Bethpage appearing only as a notation ("late Bethpage") associated with the Farmingdale station to the east. By 1854, the LIRR stopped at a local station called Jerusalem Station. A local post office opened January 29, 1857, with the name Jerusalem Station. LIRR schedules also referred to the station as simply Jerusalem. In 1867, the residents voted to change the name of the local post office to Central Park, and both that and Jerusalem appeared on LIRR schedules until 1936. The station and the post office were renamed Bethpage on October 1, 1936. In 1959, the station burned down and was replaced. Service was electrified in 1987.

25 Park Place

25 Park Place, formerly known as Trust Company of Georgia Building and later the SunTrust Bank Building is a 115 m (377 ft) 28-story skyscraper in downtown Atlanta. Built across from Woodruff Park, construction was finished in 1971. It was once the headquarters for Trust Company of Georgia, which is now known as SunTrust. It is now owned by Georgia State University, housing many of its departments in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Park51

Park51 (originally named Cordoba House) was a planned 13-story Islamic community center in Lower Manhattan including a "Muslim community center and a mosque." The developers hoped to promote an interfaith dialogue within the greater community. Due to its location two blocks from the World Trade Center site, it has been widely and controversially referred to as the "Ground Zero mosque". Numerous commentators disputed that characterization.

Park51 would have replaced an existing 1850s building of Italianate style that was damaged in the September 11 attacks. The design included a 500-seat auditorium, theater, a performing arts center, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a basketball court, a childcare area, a bookstore, a culinary school, an art studio, a food court, and a memorial to the victims of the September 11 attacks. It included a prayer space for the Muslim community to accommodate 1,000–2,000 people. Park51 was designed by the Principal of SOMA, Michel Abboud, who wrestled for months with a key problem to make the building fit naturally into its surrounds in lower Manhattan: on the one hand, it should have a contemporary design, and, at the same time, it should look Islamic.

Park Place (Dubai)

Park Place is a 56-floor mixed-use tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tower has a total structural height of 234.1 m (768 ft), making it currently the 10th tallest building in Dubai. Construction of Park Place was completed in 2007.
