Love Island

Love Island (originally Celebrity Love Island) is a daily British reality television programme. In the show, twelve single celebrities spent five weeks on an island in Fiji. Viewers would vote for the couple they would like to see in the "love shack" where the two would get to know one another better. In the first series, each week viewers voted celebrities off the island, but in the second, the inhabitants had the final say. The identities of those being kicked out were revealed in the elimination episodes. The prize for the final couple left standing was £50,000. The second series also featured the inhabitants having to cook and clean up after themselves to fight the appearance that they were just there for a free holiday.

It was originally presented by Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook, with Fearne Cotton taking over as female host in the second series. It aired in the United Kingdom on ITV. The first series aired in the summer of 2005, and it was won by Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave. The second series began in July 2006, dropping Celebrity from its name. It was won by Bianca Gascoigne and Calum Best.

Love Island (film)

Love Island is a 1952 American film directed by Bud Pollard starring Paul Valentine and Eva Gabor. Originally released in Cinecolor, the film uses extensive footage taken in Bali used from the film Legong: Dance of the Virgins (1935). It was the final directorial effort of Bud Pollard who had previously directed several race films and exploitation films.

Plot summary

US Navigator Lt Taber relates the account of his parachuting from his damaged plane onto the island of Tuba Tara ("Love Island" in English). He falls in love with one of the local beauties and fights for her.

Love Island (2015 TV series)

Love Island is a dating reality show which is the revival of the earlier series of the same name which aired from 2005 for two series ending in 2006 on ITV. The new series is presented by Caroline Flack, narrated by Iain Stirling and launched on 7 June 2015 live on ITV2. Unlike the original series, the contestants are members of the public rather than celebrities.

The show will return for a second series in 2016.

Series 1 (2015)

The first series of the newly revived show began on 7 June 2015 with a live special of the show hosted by Caroline Flack where the contestants entered the villa and were immediately coupled up. Pictures of the villa were unveiled on 5 June 2015. The contestants for the first series were revealed on 2 June 2015, just days before the launch. The series ended on 15 July 2015, with Jessica Hayes and Max Morley the winners.

Couples

The couples were chosen shortly after the contestants entered the villa. After all of the boys entered, the girls were asked to choose a boy to pair up with. Jonathan was paired with Hannah, Chris was paired with Danielle, Omar and Rachel paired up, Joshua and Lauren coupled up, whilst Jessica paired herself with Jordan and Luis got with Zoe. They will be competing in their pairs for £50,000. However, throughout the series the couples swapped and changed.
