Cedar Hill Independent School District is a public school district based in Cedar Hill, Texas, United States.
Cedar Hill serves most of the city of Cedar Hill and portions of Grand Prairie, Ovilla, Duncanville and Dallas.
In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.
Cedar Hill ISD requires its students to wear school uniforms. For the 2007-2008 school year, students may wear red, white, and black collared shirts, with black or khaki trousers. In addition female students may wear knee-length skirts. Kindergarten through sixth grade may wear black or khaki shorts or capris in addition to the trousers. The Texas Education Agency specifies that the parents and/or guardians of students zoned to a school with uniforms may apply for a waiver to opt out of the uniform policy so their children do not have to wear the uniform; parents must specify "bona fide" reasons, such as religious reasons or philosophical objections.

Cedar Hill, also referred to locally as Quadra-Cedar Hill, is a neighbourhood in the Greater Victoria municipality of Saanich. Like all neighbourhoods in the region, the boundaries are fluid, but generally speaking is bounded to the north by McKenzie Avenue, to the west by Quadra and Cook Streets, to the south by North Dairy Road, and to the east by Shelbourne Street. It derives its name from its two central thoroughfares, Cedar Hill Road and Cedar Hill Cross Road, which in turn derive their names from the local hill now called Mount Douglas, but was known in colonial times as Cedar Hill. The area includes smaller neighbourhoods such as Cedar Hill (closest to the original formation site of the area), Cook-Tolmie, Cloverdale, Swan Lake, Cook-Tattersall, Reynolds, Braefoot, and Craigmiller.
Prior to its development, Cedar Hill's gently rolling landscape was dominated by the typical parklike woodland common to the Greater Victoria region, distinguished by such species as Garry oak, arbutus, Douglas-fir, snowberry, manzanita, camas, and fawn lily. It contained a number of freshwater ponds, of which only one—King's Pond, on the north side of the Cedar Hill Golf Course - remains.
Cedar Hill is a neighborhood in New Haven, Connecticut. It includes portions of the city-designated neighborhoods of East Rock, Quinnipiac Meadows, and Mill River.
Cedar Hill was named for cedar trees that were once plentiful there in 1665. The area was divided from the local surroundings by the construction of I-91 in the 1950s.
Cedar Hill's boundary runs from James Street, up the Mill River, to Rice Field, over Indian Head Rock, to the Hamden town line, across to Middletown Avenue, to the Eastern side of State Street, back up to James Street.
David Atwater was one of the earliest European settlers recorded living in Cedar Hill (at that time called the East Farm). David Atwater, who died October 5, 1692, was the first of the New Haven Colony who was sworn a freeman of the united colony. A farm was assigned to him in the "Neck", the tract between the Mill and Quinnipiac Rivers.
Prior to the mid-19th century, the Cedar Hill district remained one of the most undeveloped portions of New Haven. The earliest significant settlement of the district does not appear to have taken place until the mid or late 1840s. An 1851 map shows that only about a dozen scattered houses and shops were standing in the area by that time. Virtually all of the buildings stood along or close to the area's two principal streets The Road to Wallingford (now known as upper State Street) and the Middletown Turnpike (now known as Middletown Avenue).
