Kingdom (EP)

Kingdom is an EP by the Polish death metal band Vader. It was released on August 21, 1998 in Japan by Avalon Marquee, and in United States, Europe, and Poland on November 10, 1998 via Pavement Music, Metal Mind, and System Shock/Impact Records.

Kingdom was recorded, and mixed in July, August, and December 1997, and February 1998 at Selani Studio in Olsztyn, and 2.47 Studio in Warsaw. Enhanced track contains PC CD-ROM Data track with video for "Incarnation" in Video For Windows format, encoded using four different quality settings. Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek talked about remixes on the album, saying:

Kingdom (Covenant Worship album)

Kingdom is a the third live album from Covenant Worship. Integrity Music released the album on July 1, 2014. They worked with Israel Houghton, in the production of this album.

Critical reception

Awarding the album three and a half stars at AllMusic, Matt Collar writes, "Kingdom, showcases the group's exuberant praise & worship sound." Mark Ryan, rating the album three stars for New Release Today, says, "The other highlight of the album is that it was recorded live, just as all worship albums should be." Giving the album three and a half stars by New Release Today, Marcus Hathcock states, "Kingdom does a good job of capturing a live church atmosphere." Jeremy Armstrong, indicating in a five star review from Worship Leader, describes, "Kingdom is powerful, infectious, and musically incredible." Specifying in a three and a half star review for 365 Days of Inspiring Media, Joshua Andre replies, "Though this album can be improve[d] upon...this is a solid effort." Jono Davies, signaling in a four star review at Louder Than the Music, responds, "this album has a great mix of musical styles, and they all work wonderfully together." Criticizing the release in a two and a half star review from Christian Music Review, April Covington cautions, "While this album is great for music leaders in church, I don’t believe that the average listener will be singing along while driving in their cars."

Cataract (beam engine)

A cataract was a speed governing device used for early single-acting beam engines, particularly atmospheric engines and Cornish engines.

The cataract is distinctly different from the Watt governor, in that it does not control the speed of the engine's stroke, but rather the timing between them.

Operation

The typical installation of a house-built beam engine spanned four floors. The cylinder and the engine driver's usual working position were located in the 'bottom chamber'. Above this were the 'middle chamber', with the cylinder top cover and 'top nozzle' (the upper valve chest), and above that the 'top chamber' or beam chamber. The cataracts were located in the lowest part of the engine house, in a chamber below the bottom chamber, along with the exhaust pipe. This space was awkward to access and not visited in normal operation.

The Walkabouts

The Walkabouts is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1984. The core members are vocalist Carla Torgerson and vocalist and songwriter Chris Eckman. Although the rest of the line-up has changed occasionally, for most of the time the other members have been Michael Wells, Glenn Slater and Terri Moeller.

The band draws inspiration from folk and country music, particularly Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young and Johnny Cash, but also from other types of artists and musical styles such as Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen, French chanson and Jacques Brel. Their sound is typically rich, with string arrangements and keyboards in addition to the standard rock instruments. In reviews the band's music is often described as melancholic or mellow, while Eckman's lyrics, concerning such themes as human relations, loneliness and restlessness, are often emphasized as poetic.

The Walkabouts have achieved commercial success and a strong fanbase in Europe, where they have done promotion and extensive touring since early 1990s. They have occasionally even made it high on the record charts in countries such as Greece and Norway.
