Karyes (Greek: Καρυές, before 1930: Αράχωβα - Arachova) is a village and a former community in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Sparti, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located roughly midway between Tripoli and Sparti. Population 926 (2001).
Caryae or Karyai (Ancient Greek: Καρυαί) was a town in ancient Laconia, near the border with Arcadia. It was situated on the road from Tegea to Sparta. Caryae had a sanctuary of Artemis, where the Lacedaemonian maidens held chorus dances. The caryatids, sculpted female figures used in architecture, were probably named after these maidens from Caryae. The modern village Karyes was named after this ancient town.

Vile forms of Necros lie rotting my mind
Feasting like maggots - maggots in flesh
So left your ruined cortex behind
Now the maggot knows glee as it nibbles on your spine!
[Chorus:]
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling like rain!
Putrid pus-pools vomit blubonic plague
The bowels of the beast reek of puke
How to describe such vileness on the page
World maggot waits for the end of the age!
[Chorus]
Beneath a sky of maggots I walked
Until those maggots began to fall
I gaped at God to receive my gift
Bathed in maggots till the planet shit
[Repeat chorus a lot]
