Carnivore

A carnivore /ˈkɑːrnɪvɔər/ meaning 'meat eater' (Latin, caro meaning 'meat' or 'flesh' and vorare meaning 'to devour') is an organism that derives its energy and nutrient requirements from a diet consisting mainly or exclusively of animal tissue, whether through predation or scavenging. Animals that depend solely on animal flesh for their nutrient requirements are called obligate carnivores while those that also consume non-animal food are called facultative carnivores.Omnivores also consume both animal and non-animal food, and apart from the more general definition, there is no clearly defined ratio of plant to animal material that would distinguish a facultative carnivore from an omnivore. A carnivore that sits at the top of the foodchain is termed an apex predator.

Plants that capture and digest insects (and, at times, other small animals) are called carnivorous plants. Similarly, fungi that capture microscopic animals are often called carnivorous fungi.

Classification

The word "carnivore" sometimes refers to the mammalian order Carnivora, but this is somewhat misleading. While many Carnivora meet the definition of being meat eaters, not all do, and even fewer are true obligate carnivores (see below). For example, most species of bears are actually omnivorous, except for the giant panda, which is almost exclusively herbivorous, and the exclusively meat-eating polar bear, which lives in the Arctic, where few plants grow. In addition, there are plenty of carnivorous species that are not members of Carnivora.

Carnivores (series)

The Carnivores games are a series of hunting simulation video games featuring prehistoric species ranging from dinosaurs to Quaternary mammals (depending on the title). The first three games were developed for the PC by Action Forms and released by WizardWorks Software between 1998 and 2001. The fourth game, Carnivores Cityscape, was developed by Sunstorm Interactive and released by Infogrames in 2002. The fifth installment, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter, is a port of Carnivores 2 to the iOS and Android by Tatem Games and the PSP by Beatshapers, released in 2010. Carnivores Ice Age soon followed and got its own port debuting for iOS, eventually making its way into Android. September 2013 marked the release of yet another game, Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter HD, an HD remake of the series. This new title includes new graphics and new hunting experiences packed with exciting features never seen before. The series has attracted a small cult following.

Season 2 includes the introduction of a smart, tough, Mexican criminal called "Armadillo." It also includes the beginning of the "Money Train" storyline.

Season 3 (2004)

Season 3 follows the Strike Team attempts of lying low after the Money Train Heist. However, their efforts are hindered as the repercussions of the heist start to pursue them, which brings some tension between Shane, Lem, and Tavon. Also, Aceveda looks for his replacement as he prepares to take the seat of councilman.

Season 4 (2005)

Season 4 features the new captain of The Barn, Monica Rawling who implements controversial federal asset forfeiture laws to control drug dealing in Farmington, which is controlled by the leader of the One-Niners gang, Antwon Mitchell, who has just been released from prison. To stop this, Rawling empowers Vic, whose Strike Team has disbanded since the last season forcing them to reunite.
