Carlos Gerardo Hernández Valverde (born 9 April 1982), known simply as Carlos Hernández, is a Costa Rican football player who plays as a Attacking midfielder for Dempo in the top division of Indian football, the I-League.

Club career

Alajuelense

Hernández had become one of the most important players in the Primera División de Costa Rica, the Costa Rican national league, where he was the top assister in the 2004–05 and 2005–06 seasons. He had built a reputation as a great scorer from long and middle distances combined with high level vision and technique that made him one of the most dangerous midfielders in the region.

However, Hernández struggled with injury in the 2006–07 season which also resulted in weight gain. In a bid to regain his former self, he was loaned out to A-League club Melbourne Victory.

Melbourne Victory

On 12 June 2007, it was confirmed by Melbourne Victory that Hernandez had signed for the Australian Club on a two-year loan from LD Alajuelense. He made his first appearance for the club in their 1–0 A-League Pre-Season Cup loss to the Newcastle Jets, coming on as a substitute in the 70th minute. In the next game on 28 July 2007 he got his first start against Perth Glory scoring his first goal for the Victory.

Carlos Hernández (infielder)

Carlos Eduardo Hernández (born December 12, 1975 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a former Major League Baseball infielder and right-handed batter who played for the Houston Astros (1999) and Seattle Mariners (2000). In 2005, he hit .321 and stole 39 bases for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. In 2006, he hit .280 with 32 stolen bases for Long Island.

Hernández was a .133 career hitter with one RBI and no home runs in 18 games.
