Carl Dixon

Carlton Anthony "Carl" Dixon is a Canadian rock singer, keyboardist and guitarist. He has been a member of the bands Coney Hatch,April Wine and The Guess Who.

Biography

Dixon was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. During his childhood he enjoyed listening to the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, The Who and The Guess Who. Carl is married to Betty Ujvar Dixon. They have two daughters named Carlin and Lauren.

Dixon moved to Montreal in 1979 to perform with a band called Firefly. In 1981, Dixon left Firefly, moving to Toronto, where he answered an ad from the band Coney Hatch, becoming their lead singer. While with Coney Hatch, he wrote and co-wrote many of their hits, such as "Hey Operator" and "Devil's Deck". He spent most of the 1980s and 1990s touring with Coney Hatch, April Wine, and doing solo projects.

In 1989, his demo song Fool's Paradise was heard in the 1989 horror film Freakshow.

In 1997, Dixon was invited to join The Guess Who as lead singer, staying with the band until April 2008.

Good Times

Good Times is an American sitcom that originally aired from February 8, 1974, until August 1, 1979, on CBS. It was created by Eric Monte and Mike Evans, and developed by Norman Lear, the series' primary executive producer. Good Times is a spin-off of Maude, which is itself a spin-off of All in the Family.

Synopsis

Florida and James Evans and their three children live in a rented project apartment, 17C, at 963 N. Gilbert Ave., in a housing project (implicitly the infamous Cabrini–Green projects, shown in the opening and closing credits but never mentioned by name on the show) in a poor, black neighborhood in inner-city Chicago. Florida and James' children are James Jr., also known as "J.J.", Thelma, and Michael. When the series begins, J.J. and Thelma are seventeen and sixteen years old, respectively, and Michael, called "the militant midget" by his father due to his passionate activism, is eleven years old. Their exuberant neighbor, and Florida's best friend, is Willona Woods, a recent divorcée who works at a boutique. Their building superintendent is Nathan Bookman (seasons 2–4), to whom James, Willona and later J.J. refer as "Buffalo Butt", or, even more derisively, "Booger".

Carl Dixon (RAF officer)

Air Vice Marshal Carl William Dixon CB, OBE is a retired senior commander of the Royal Air Force (RAF) who served as Commander of Joint Helicopter Command from 2011 to 2014.

RAF career

Dixon was commissioned into the RAF in 1979. As a junior officer he flew Chinook helicopters from RAF Germany. After an operational tour with the United Nations in Rwanda during the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, he joined the Policy Staff at the Ministry of Defence. He became Commander of the Joint Support Helicopter Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1997 and Officer Commanding No. 27 Squadron later that year. He led helicopter operations over Kosovo in 1999, was deployed to Sierra Leone in 2000 and then focussed on a scheme to develop joint helicopter capabilities with the Fleet Air Arm and Army Air Corps later that year. He joined the Air Resources & Plans Directorate at the Ministry of Defence in 2003 and then became Station Commander at RAF Benson from where he was deployed to Iraq as Commander of the UK Joint Helicopter Force. He became Director Equipment Capability (Air & Littoral Manoeuvre) in 2005, Director (Information Superiority) in 2008 and Commander of Joint Helicopter Command in 2011.
