Candyman (singer)

Candyman (real name Ruben Cuesta Palomo) is a popular Cuban reggaeton (cubatón) singer.

Born in Santiago de Cuba, he grew up listening to Jamaican radio, and thus reggae music. He was one of the first artists to use the Jamaican dancehall and ragga musical styles in his compositions, thus creating the first unique cubatón sound in the early 2000s.

Now considered as one of the leaders of the scene. He has a long standing collaboration with Sweden-based cubatón label Topaz Records, and has gained fame across the Americas and Europe in the genre.

Candyman (album)

Candyman is the second solo album from Steve Lukather. It was a collaboration of musicians who were for the most part also in Lukather's band Los Lobotomys. Toto familiars Simon Phillips and David Paich participated as well as David Garfield, John Pêna, Chris Trujillo, Lenny Castro, Larry Klimas, Fee Waybill, Richard Page and Paul Rodgers. Lukather recorded the album in mostly live takes with little overdubbing.

There was some confusion about whether Candyman was a Steve Lukather album or a Los Lobotomys album. The Japanese and US releases of Candyman were under the Los Lobotomys name rather than Lukather's; the Japanese release also featured a version of the Hendrix song "Red House." The European release of Candyman was credited to Lukather alone. Additionally, the touring band for the album was sometimes introduced as "Steve Lukather and Los Lobotomys" and sometimes as just "Los Lobotomys."

The song "Borrowed Time" was released as a single in Europe and included "Red House" as a B-side.

Unklejam

Unklejam is a UK band formed by Tendai Tyson.

Background

Unklejam's name is taken from Funkadelic's 1979 album Uncle Jam Wants You. Their sound is a mixture of Electro, R&B and soul with influences ranging from P-Funk to Prince and Sly and the Family Stone. The band were signed to Virgin Records.

Their debut single "Love Ya" was played on BBC Radio by Trevor Nelson and Annie Mac and was also performed live on Popworld on Channel 4. The single was B-listed at BBC Radio 1 and charted at number fifty-four in the UK Singles Chart. It was also included in the soundtrack for the game NBA Live 2008. The video for the song has been directed by Paul Gore. the group then released their second single "What Am I Fighting For?" following a stint supporting Nelly Furtado on her world tour, and Justin Timberlake on the European leg of his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour. The single was a much bigger success, peaking in the UK Singles Chart top twenty and peaking at number eight on the UK iTunes Store.
