State Route 82 (SR 82) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs from Interstate 880 in San Jose to Interstate 280 in San Francisco following the San Francisco Peninsula. It is the spinal arterial road of the peninsula and runs parallel to the nearby Caltrain line along much of the route. In addition, El Camino passes through many historic downtown neighborhoods such as Burlingame, San Mateo, Redwood City, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale, some of the most walkable and transit-oriented neighborhoods in the region.
Some portions of the highway are named El Camino Real, which also formed part of the historic El Camino Real mission trail.
Route 82 begins its journey as The Alameda at Interstate 880 in San Jose. Once it enters Santa Clara, Route 82 bends north-east around Santa Clara University and onto El Camino Real, where it continues for the remainder of its trip up the San Francisco Peninsula, paralleling the Caltrain corridor. Route 82, referred to by local residents almost always as "El Camino," runs through a number of cities on the Peninsula, including Palo Alto (passing by Stanford University), San Carlos, San Mateo, Burlingame, and Millbrae, and it is a central artery of the Peninsula communities through which it passes.
Route 82 is a highway in southwest Missouri. Its eastern terminus is at Route 83 in northwest Hickory County; its western terminus is at U.S. Route 54 in El Dorado Springs.
From 1922 to about 1927, Route 82 west of Osceola was part of Route 26, which ran from the Kansas state line east to Osceola. It became part of US 54 west of El Dorado Springs in 1926 or 1927, and the eastern half was renumbered Route 62. When US 62 was extended into Missouri in the early 1930s, Route 62 became Route 82.
The following highways are numbered 82:
Oregon Route 82 is a state highway in northeastern Oregon. It runs from U.S. Route 30 at La Grande to a junction with Oregon Routes 350 and 351 in Joseph. It is known as the Wallowa Lake Highway No. 10 (see Oregon highways and routes). Route 82 is part of the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway.
From an intersection at Adams Avenue (U.S. Route 30, it heads east underneath Interstate 84 into Island City, where it turns north at an intersection with Oregon Route 237. (Highway 237 continues east to Cove. Once out of Island City, it curves northeast and passes through Imbler, Elgin, and enters Wallowa County at Minam. From there, the highway curves southeast into the Wallowa Valley, passing through the towns of Wallowa, Lostine, and Enterprise before ending in Joseph.
State Highway 82 is the main route from remote Wallowa County to La Grande which serves a transportation hub, providing access to main roads such as Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 30. It also sees extra tourist traffic in the summer, which mostly consists of travelers to Wallowa Lake, which is south of Joseph.
Route 82 is a short, state highway in Union County of the US state of New Jersey. It runs southeast from an intersection with Route 124 in Springfield Township along Morris Avenue to Route 439 in the Elizabeth general area. Along the 4.92 miles (7.92 km) route, it serves local businesses and the main arterial of Union Township. Near its eastern terminus at Route 439, Route 82 passes through Kean University, a state college in New Jersey. Route 82 originates as of one two Route S24 alignments designated in the 1927 state highway renumbering. A spur of Route 24, it lasted for 26 years untouched until the 1953 state highway renumbering, when Union County's Route S-24 was designated as Route 82 and a portion of Route 439. The route's alignment has changed little since the 1953 renumbering.
Route 82 begins at a traffic light complex with New Jersey Route 124 eastbound and County Route 577 eastbound in the community of Springfield, New Jersey. The highway progresses southward along Morris Avenue through a large business district. A short distance after, Route 82 intersects with Maple Street, which serves Route 124 westbound and the community of Maplewood. The route continues southward along Morris, heading through the business district of Springfield. Residential homes begin to pop around the southbound direction before the highway crosses over the Rahway River. From there, Route 82 enters Union, where it enters a large commercial district once again. During the highway's progression southward, Route 82 enters more residential regions, intersecting with Liberty Avenue in the northern end of Union. Liberty Avenue connects Route 82 with U.S. Route 22 in Union. The highway continues southward along Morris Avenue, entering further into Union, where it serves as the main road to the community. At a fork with Elmwood Avenue, Route 82 diverts to the east along Morris, leaving the northern portion of Union.
New York State Route 82 (NY 82) is a state highway in the eastern Hudson Valley of New York in the United States. It begins at an intersection with NY 52 northeast of the village of Fishkill, bends eastward towards Millbrook, and then returns westward to end at a junction with U.S. Route 9, NY 9H, and NY 23 at Bell Pond, near Claverack. NY 82 meets the Taconic State Parkway twice; it is the only state highway that has more than one exit with the parkway. The road spans two counties: Dutchess and Columbia.
NY 82 was assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York. An alternate route of NY 82 from South Millbrook to Pine Plains, designated as New York State Route 82A, was assigned at the same time. Part of NY 82A was replaced by the new U.S. Route 44 c. 1935. The routings of NY 82 and NY 82A were swapped in the mid-1930s, but the change was reverted in the mid-1960s. Ownership and maintenance of NY 82A was transferred from the state of New York to Dutchess County in 1980, at which time it was redesignated as County Route 83 (CR 83).
State Route 82 (SR 82) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Known for most of its length as Cleveland Road, the state highway runs 6.84 miles (11.01 km) from SR 600 and SR 661 in Cleveland to U.S. Route 19 Business (US 19 Business) in Lebanon. SR 82, which provides a mountain crossing connecting the two towns in central Russell County, was established in the early 1930s.
SR 82 begins at US 19 Business (Main Street) at the west end of downtown Lebanon. The two-lane road heads northwest as Cleveland Road. The state highway crosses Glade Hollow and has a curvaceous descent of Copper Ridge. SR 82 passes through several hairpin turns on its descent into the Clinch Valley. During the descent, the state highway enters the town of Cleveland and follows a stream between two hills that are part of the Cleveland Barrens Natural Area Preserve. SR 82 heads into the center of town as Lebanon Avenue. After crossing Norfolk Southern Railway's Clinch Valley District, the state highway turns southwest onto 1st Street. SR 82 reaches its northern terminus at the north end of its bridge across the Clinch River at its intersection with SR 600 (Ivy Ridge Road) and SR 661 (Artrip Road).
