Caged

Caged is a 1950 film noir directed by John Cromwell and starring Eleanor Parker, Agnes Moorehead, Ellen Corby and Hope Emerson. It was nominated for three Academy Awards.

The movie tells the story of a teenage newlywed sent to prison for being an accessory to a robbery. Her experiences while incarcerated, along with the killing of her husband, change her from a frightened young girl into a hardened convict.

Caged was adapted by Virginia Kellogg from the story "Women Without Men" by Kellogg and Bernard C. Schoenfeld. The studio had originally intended it as a vehicle for Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, but reportedly Davis had said she didn't want to make a "dyke movie" (a movie with partial homosexual content) and turned it down.

Plot

A married 19-year-old, Marie Allen (Eleanor Parker), is sent to prison after a botched armed robbery attempt with her equally young husband, Tom, who is killed. While receiving her initial prison physical, she finds out that she is two months pregnant.

Marie has trouble adjusting to the monotonous and cutthroat world of the women's prison. She meets Kitty Stark (Betty Garde), a murderous shoplifter, who says once Marie gets out, Kitty will get her a job "boosting," or shoplifting. Marie does not want to get involved in crime, but Kitty explains the realities of prison life: "You get tough or you get killed. You better wise up before it's too late."

Popular (TV series)

Popular is an American teenage comedy-drama on The WB Television Network in the United States, created by Ryan Murphy and Gina Matthews, starring Leslie Bibb and Carly Pope as two teenage girls who reside on opposite ends of the popularity spectrum at their high school, but who are forced to get along when their single parents meet on a cruise ship and get married. The show was produced by Touchstone Television and ran for two seasons on The WB from 1999 to 2001.

Plot

Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb) and Sam McPherson (Carly Pope), students at Jacqueline Kennedy High School, are polar opposites. Brooke is a popular cheerleader and Sam is an unpopular journalist. Their respective groups are forced to socialize when Brooke's father and Sam's mother get engaged and the two girls have to share a house.

The plot of the first season revolves around the girls' school life, rival groups of friends, mutual animosity and plan to separate their parents. At the end of the season, Sam finds Brooke's real mother and encourages her to come back to town, which breaks up the engagement and splits the new family apart.

Caged (2010 film)

Caged (French: Captifs) is a 2010 French horror film directed and co-written by Yann Gozlan and financed by former French Minister Bernard Kouchner. The film is about a woman named Carole who is traumatized after seeing her friend Laura being killed by a dog twenty years ago. Carole works as an aid worker in former Yugoslavia and begins to leave from Kosovo with two co-workers, when she is kidnapped by a Serbian gang of masked men who deal with human organ trafficking.

The film received unfavourable reviews from critics.

Caged was shown at Fantasy Filmfest on August 20, 2010. It was also shown in competition at the 2010 Sitges Film Festival.Caged did not have strong box office returns in Europe.

Reception

Film received generally negative reviews. Le Monde gave the film one star out of four noting that the captives are no more sympathetic than their torturers.L'Express gave the film one star out of four calling it a "predictable thriller".Paris Match gave the film two stars praising the film's star Zoe Felix.Chronic'art gave the film a one star rating, noting that the pace of the film is lost but praised the Felix's acting.
