Sinclair (high school)

Sinclair is a high school in the Swedish city of Uddevalla. The school carries four art-based educations; Music, Art, Dance and theatre; as well as a media education. Though there are different directions of education, the students are free to take courses pertaining to the different specializations and are even encouraged to do so as the art-genres have a course mainly for that purpose.

Location

The school itself is located in the former locales of the popular clothing brand Tiger of Sweden and is named after the first mayor of Uddevalla. The school is also a part of Uddevalla Gymnasieskola which is a cooperation between the high schoolhouses of Uddevalla.

Mathieu Blanc-Francard, stage name Sinclair (born 19 July 1970), is a French singer-songwriter and musician.

Early life

Mathieu Blanc-Francard grew up in Paris and went to school at the lycée Janson-de-Sailly. He became interested in music as a teenager and missed his baccalauréat. He briefly worked in a recording studio as an assistant sound engineer and learned the guitar. At this time he formed his first band and chose his stage name.

Career

Musical career

Sinclair's first album, Que justice soit faite ("Let justice be done"), was released in 1993. In the recording he played all the instruments except the drums. The album sold 100,000 copies and was certified as a "golden disc". Sinclair gave a hundred concerts to publicise this album, including a performance at the New Morning nightclub in May 1993. For his second album, Au mépris du danger ("In defiance of danger"), musicians including Matthieu Chedid and Fixi of the group Java formed his group "Système Sinclair". His third album, La Bonne attitude ("The Good attitude"), on which he invited Manu Katché, sold 200,000 copies. Sinclair composed, arranged and produced his fourth album, Supernova Superstar, which came out in 2001.

Sinclair (1805 ship)

The Sinclair, also known as the Lady Madeline Sinclair (or Lady Sinclair, or Lady Madalina Sinclair), was a three-decker sailing ship built in Scotland but registered at Kingston upon Hull, England. She was built of fir, which made for speedier construction at the expense of durability. She made two voyages to New South Wales, and on her first return voyage, via China, she carried a cargo for the British East India Company.

Career

Captain John Hardy Jackson received a letter of marque on 14 October 1805. This authorized he and Sinclair to engage in offensive action against the French, not just defensive, should the occasion arise.

She sailed as part of convoy in 1806 under the escort of Porpoise that included the transports Elizabeth, Justina, and Alexander, and the convict transport Fortune. Sinclair was carrying stores, passengers, and some convicts.

The convoy passed Madeira on 25 February and were reported all well on 5 March.Sinclair was also carrying Captain William Bligh, who was sailing to the colony to assume the governorship.

Cafú (footballer, born 1977)

Arlindo Gomes Semedo (born 17 November 1977), known as Cafú, is a Cape Verdean professional footballer who plays for S.C. Freamunde as a forward.

After playing in his country of birth for Belenenses and Boavista, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 153 games and 17 goals over the course of seven seasons, he went on to have a brief spell in Germany with Freiburg.

Already in his 30's Cafú moved to Cyprus, where he remained for five years in representation of several teams. Internationally, he played for Cape Verde.

Football career

Cafú was born in Lisbon, Portugal. During his early career he played for Almada AC, Amora FC, C.F. Os Belenenses – with which he made his Primeira Liga debuts in the 1999–2000 season – and Boavista FC, appearing in six games in the Porto team's quarterfinal run in the UEFA Cup in 2002–03 but starting rarely during his three-and-a-half-year spell with the club.

In January 2006, Cafú moved to Sportfreunde Siegen in Germany's second division, his five league goals not being enough to avoid relegation (as last). He subsequently stayed in the category and joined SC Freiburg, where he would appear sparingly in one-and-a-half-years.

Cafú (footballer, born 1993)

Carlos Miguel Ribeiro Dias (born 26 February 1993), known as Cafú, is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Vitória Guimarães as a midfielder.

Club career

Born in Guimarães, Cafú had his first contact with football, in the youth ranks of his hometown club, Vitória Guimarães, which he would represent for two seasons. In 2008, he moved to Benfica, playing his first seasons as a defensive midfielder, then shifting to a striker role.

On 19 September 2012, Cafú made his debut with Benfica B in a 2012–13 Segunda Liga match against CD Tondela where he replaced Cláudio Correa at half-time, scoring the equalizer at 83rd minute.

On 26 July 2013, Cafú signed a four-year contract with Vitória Guimarães, returning to his hometown club after a five-year link to Benfica. At Guimarães he was immediately repositioned as defensive midfielder, being a usual starter in the miidfield of the reserve team, which earned promotion back to the Segunda Liga.

He made his debut in Primeira Liga on 17 August 2014, in a 3-1 win against Gil Vicente, partnering with André André and Bernard Mensah in the midfield, adding 29 appearances throughout the season in the first tier.
