CJOR is a Canadian radio station which broadcasts an adult contemporary format on 1240 AM/KHz in Osoyoos, British Columbia with an FM rebroadcaster on 102.9 FM/MHz as CJOR-FM in Oliver, British Columbia. The station is branded as EZ Rock.
CKOK Ltd. the original owner launched the station in December 1966 as CKOO. Sometime in the late 1970s or the early 1980s, a rebroadcaster was added in Oliver at 1490 AM with the callsign CKOO-1. In 1984, CKOO and CKOO-1 were authorized to increase night power from 250 to 1,000 watts. In 1991, CKOO and CKOO-1 adopted their current callsigns CJOR and CJOR-1. The CJOR callsign was previously used at an unrelated radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia from 1926-1988.
Over the years, the station went through a number of owners and formats. In 1993, CJOR received CRTC approval to convert CJOR-1 Oliver to the FM dial to operate at 102.9 MHz.
CKPK-FM is a radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It broadcasts at 102.7 MHz on the FM dial. As of 2012, the station is owned by the Jim Pattison Group and airs an adult album alternative format promoted as "102.7 The Peak". Founded in 1923, in the past the station has broadcast numerous formats on other frequencies, under the call signs CFXC, CJOR, CHRX and CKBD. CKPK's studios are located on West 8th Avenue in the Fairview neighbourhood of Vancouver, while its transmitter is located atop Mount Seymour.
CKPK-FM was originally launched by electrical store Hume and Rumble in 1923 as experimental station CFXC, broadcasting on 440 metres with power at 10 watts. It adopted the 1030 AM frequency in 1925. The station was acquired by George Chandler the following year; under Canadian broadcast policy at the time, CFXC was shut down and a new license was issued to Chandler for CJOR. The station subsequently increased power to 50 watts in 1928 and shared time with CNRV, then moved frequencies to 1210 AM and its studios to 840 Howe Street (with another boost in power to 500 watts) in 1930, and then to 600 AM in 1933.
