Comic book archive

A comic book archive or comic book reader file (also called sequential image file) is a type of archive file for the purpose of sequential viewing of images, commonly for comic books. The idea was made popular by the CDisplay sequential image viewer; since then, many viewers for different platforms have been created.

Design

Comic book archive files mainly consist of a series of image files, typically PNG (lossless compression) or JPEG (lossy compression) files, stored as a single archive file. Occasionally GIF, BMP, and TIFF files are seen. Folders may be used to group images.

Comic book archive files are not a distinct file format; only the file name extension differs from a standard file of the given archive type.

The file names inside an archive are usually numbered in ascending order according to the original page number, including the use of preceding zeros for all positions (example: using 001 rather than 1) to force the proper display of images by viewers across all operating systems. Otherwise files can be displayed out of order (example: 1, 10-19, 100-199, 2, 20-29, 3, etc.) due to differences in how file name characters are handled by each operating system.

Mix 106.3 (official callsign 1CBR) is a commercial radio station in Canberra, Australia and is owned by the Australian Radio Network and Southern Cross Austereo.

Mix 106.3 plays current hits and a variety of 70s, 80s and 90s music (Hot Adult Contemporary), primarily targeted at the 25-54 age group, the group most valued by advertisers. Canberra's Mix 106.3 is part of the KIIS Network with sister stations in other major Australian cities - KIIS 106.5 Sydney, KIIS 101.1 Melbourne, 97.3 FM Brisbane, and Mix 102.3 Adelaide.

History

On 27 February 1988, Kix 106, as it was then known, and sister station FM104 (now HIT 104.7) became Australia's first supplementary FM licences, as well as being the first new commercial FM radio stations licensed in Australia since 1980. Kix 106 was a supplementary licence of Canberra AM station 2CC, and FM104 a supplementary licence of AM station 2CA.

In the mid-1990s, due to the AM stations dwindling audience and the increasing popularity of the music based FM stations, ARN - owner of Mix 106.3 & 2CC, and Austereo - owner of 104.7 & 2CA, merged to form a joint venture ownership of both FM stations - Canberra FM Pty Ltd. The AM stations were sold off, and are currently operated by a joint-venture between Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcasters.
