Byron Crawford

Byron Crawford (March 4, 1981-), also known by the nickname Bol, is a blogger based in St. Louis, Missouri who writes ByronCrawford.com and wrote a daily (Monday-Friday) online column for XXL magazine for 5 years. In February, 2008 XXL readers voted that Crawford was the site's best blogger by a margin of over sixteen percent . Byroncrawford.com won Hip Hop Connection's 2008 Hip-Hop Blog World Cup, which deemed it the best hip hop blog of the year . While Crawford bills Byroncrawford.com "the only hip hop blog on the Internet", he also regularly reviews music from other genres and writes on politics and race and gender relations. Brian McManus of Philadelphia Weekly called Crawford "blogging's master craftsman" for his opinionated but laid-back writing.

While past reports have calculated Crawford's blog as only having 40,000 unique readers, his addition to XXL magazine's roster of online columnists and publicized feuds with artists, their fans, and their family, including Bun B, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Donda West, and Joe Budden have boosted his profile considerably over the past few years. The Riverfront Times claims that Byroncrawford.com gets more traffic than the sites for Vibe and Spin magazines.

Byron Crawford (journalist)

Byron Garrison Crawford is a former television journalist and newspaper columnist from Louisville, Kentucky.

Crawford is best known for a continuing series of reports on WHAS-TV titled "On the Road," somewhat of a localized version of the series by the same name by Charles Kuralt for CBS. Before his "On the Road" series, Crawford was a news reporter for the station. He started in radio in Cincinnati, Ohio at WCKY as a disk jockey, before moving to Louisville and WAKY. He then went on to WHAS-AM radio as a reporter, a station which was under the same ownership and operation as the television station and The Courier-Journal at the time.

Crawford left WHAS in 1979 to become the Kentucky Columnist for The Courier-Journal newspaper, where his column was of a similar vein as his television work. He wrote the column three times each week until retiring in 2008.

Crawford was also the first host of the television series Kentucky Life on Kentucky Educational Television, from the debut in September 1995 through summer 1999. He has published three books, all compilations of his columns: "Crawford's Journal" in 1986, "Kentucky Stories" in 1994 and "Kentucky Footnotes" in 2010.
