Buyan

In Slavic mythology, Buyan (Буя́н sometimes transliterated as Bujan) is described as a mysterious island in the ocean with the ability to appear and disappear using tides. Three brothers—Northern, Western, and Eastern Winds—live there.

It figures prominently in many famous myths; Koschei the Deathless keeps his soul hidden there, secreted inside a needle placed inside an egg in the mystical oak-tree; other legends call the island the source of all weather, created there and sent forth into the world by the god Perun. It is also mentioned in The Tale of Tsar Saltan, of His Son the Renowned and Mighty Bogatyr Prince Gvidon Saltanovich, and of the Beautiful Princess-Swan (an opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov) and many other Slavic folktales.

Some scholars interpret Buyan as a sort of Proto-Indo-European Otherworld (see Fortunate Islands). Others assert that Buyan is actually a Slavic name for some real island, most likely Rügen.

  • Bayan (khan)

Bayan (or Buyan; Naiyan) (Kazakh: Баян хан) (r.1302-1309) was one of most famous khans of White Horde. "Bayan" means "rich" and "buyan" means "good deed/act" (as in religion or belief) in the Mongolian language.

All the White and Blue Hordes /which is Golden Horde's issue/ were ruled by Mongols. And their upper classes were Mongols. Kazakhs were their slaves. When Bayan became the khan, his cousin and relatives revolted against him. The latter, under his cousin Kobluk, were supported by Khaidu and Duwa. Bayan fought his rebel cousin, Koblek, and Kaidu's forces several times. He asked help from Tokhta, ruler of the Golden Horde and the Blue Horde. Tokhta was angry with the situation, and warned Khaidu not to help the rebels. Buyan also tried to ally with Temür Khan of the Yuan dynasty, the suzerain of Mongol Empire, against the Chagatai Khanate and Khaidu. But the distance between them made it ineffective. Finally, Bayan defeated his enemies and ruled his Horde till 1309. It is claimed that Circassians, Russians and Hungarians (probably Bashkirs) served in his army.

    Creeping and Cracking
Baby don't look back, no one goes home tonight
The evil we see and the evil we do
Brings out the beast in me and you
    Waking up from screaming
You think it's all in your head
My my, it's a bad day to be alive
It's crawling under your skin and feeds of your hate
Just close your eyes and wait till the sun goes down
    You better stay awake
The dark comes knocking so you better start running
Fear the demon in me, Fear the demon in you
    Hear the voices calling you
    Shadow's tongue licking your flesh
Rips the clothes clean of your body
Strip you clean straight down to the bones
You can't stay awake, You can't fall asleep
    He's coming for your life
Don't wanna wake up dead, you know you're over your head
    There ain't no turning back
    You better stay awake
The dark comes knocking so you better start running
Fear the demon in me, Fear the demon in you
    Laying in sweet tears
Dreams are turning into a living hell
The nightmares you see and the terror you feel
Takes a turn for the worse and becomes real
    You better stay awake
The dark comes knocking so you better start running
