Bus driver

A bus driver, bus operator or omnibus driver is a person who drives buses as their career.

Description

In many jurisdictions, bus drivers must have a special license above and beyond a regular driver's licence. Bus drivers typically drive their vehicles between bus stations or stops. Bus drivers often drop off and pick up passengers on a predetermined route schedule. In British English a different term, coach driver (or coach captain), is used for drivers on long-distance routes, tours and school trips.

There are various types of bus drivers, including transit drivers, school bus drivers and tour bus drivers. Bus drivers may work for city, public (state and national/federal) governments, school boards, and private enterprises, such as charter companies which run tour buses. Coach captains in Australia are frequently freelance sub-contractors who work for various bus and coach companies.

In the United States

As of 2010, there are approximately 650,000 U.S. employed bus drivers. One of the most common jobs in the United States for a bus driver is to work for a public school, transporting students aboard a school bus to and from the school building. As of 2004, 71% of bus drivers in the U.S. were employed by schools. In other countries, school transport is often provided by the same companies that run other bus services in the area, so school bus driver is not a separate position.

Busdriver

Regan John Farquhar (born February 12, 1978), better known by his stage name Busdriver, is a rapper and producer from Los Angeles, California. He has collaborated with rappers such as Myka 9, Nocando, 2Mex and Ellay Khule. His primary producers have been Daedelus, Boom Bip, Daddy Kev, Loden, Paris Zax, Omid and Nobody. He has also worked with D-Styles on two albums.

Life and career

Born in Los Angeles, Regan Farquhar was introduced to hip hop at an early age, his father Ralph Farquhar being the screenwriter for the 1985 film Krush Groove. He began rapping at age 9. By 13, he was part of the group 4/29, which was inspired by the 1992 Los Angeles riots. At 16, he joined the Project Blowed scene.

Busdriver's solo album, Temporary Forever, was released in 2002. He released Cosmic Cleavage on Big Dada in 2004.

Busdriver released RoadKillOvercoat on Epitaph Records in 2007. Another solo album, Jhelli Beam, was released on ANTI- in 2009. He is the executive producer of Thirsty Fish's 2009 album Watergate.

Bus Driver (video game)

Bus Driver is a game created by SCS Software using Prism3D engine. The game was completed in March 2007 and, at the time, with a full feature 1 hour demo.

Gameplay

The player selects a route from tiers (described below), and then after a short loading time, the player sees the selected bus either at a bus depot or terminal. After halting at the first stop, the bus must be driven along the correct route (indicated at intersections by orange arrows) whilst obeying all traffic rules and stopping at all bus stops. If the player fails to do so, points will be taken from their score. When the game begins, one tier of routes, which includes six buses, is available. In total, there are six tiers, thirty-six routes and thirteen buses (seventeen in Temsa Edition). In order to unlock the next tier, the player must drive at least four of the routes successfully. As the game progresses, routes become more tedious. The player will lose points if they disobey traffic laws, upset passengers (by braking too hard or causing accidents) or they depart from the bus stop too early, or even if they leave passengers waiting at a bus stop. Conversely, the player will gain points for obeying traffic laws and being punctual.
