Burn up or Burn Up may refer to:

Burn Up!

Burn Up! (Japanese: バーンナップ, Hepburn: Bān'nappu) is a 1991 Japanese anime original video animation release. It concerns a special group of police officers called Team Warrior who are often given special assignments in the police department.

In 2005, ADV Films released Burn Up! on DVD in the USA. The DVD also contains the English dub. In 2009, Sentai Filmworks re-released the OVA on DVD.

Background

There are three series that are sequels to Burn Up. Two of the series, Burn Up W (an OVA in 4 parts) and Burn Up Excess (13 parts) form a mostly united story arc. Many of the characters in Burn Up also appear in Excess, but have different names. The third series, Burn Up Scramble!, is unrelated to the other 2 series, except in that it is a complete re-envisioning of the series.

Plot summary

Maki is sitting in a park next to her motorcycle, in her racing suit. As she sits there, feeding pigeons, we cut away to a frantic highway chase with a young girl screaming in the backseat of the getaway car. Police dispatches a signal to all possible backup units, including two Junior SWAT team officers: Yuka and Remi. Preempting the speeding ticket they were about to issue, they join the pursuit and radio Maki for assistance. She suits up and enters the fray on her motorcycle, taking shortcuts over guardrails and weaving through police roadblocks. When the perpetrators open fire on her, cracking her racing helmet, she promptly becomes angered and draws a shotgun, kills one of the kidnappers, shoots the getaway car's engine, and the chase grinds to a halt.

Plot summary

Episode one

Oil surveyor Masud Khamil narrowly escapes an attack on his camp in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and flees with some valuable data. Tom McConnell replaces his father-in-law Sir Mark Foxbay as Chairman of Arrow Oil. At the celebration party, Inuit activist Mika Namuvai enters uninvited and serves Tom a writ from her people. The writ decries global warming and its causes, such as Arrow's production facility on the Athabasca tar sands. The shock of Mika's subsequent ejection causes Tom's daughter to have an asthma attack, but she is saved by Holly Dernay, head of renewable energy at Arrow.

In testimony before the US Senate in Washington, Sir Richard Langham, Tom's former geology professor, testifies on the dangers of global warming, but he is discredited by a pro-oil senator using muck racked up by devious oil lobbyist James "Mack" Mackintosh. Tom confronts Mack, his longtime friend, about the tactics. Mack denies that he spread the story, but he is clearly committed to serving his employers. Back in London, Tom wins his court case but then sees Mika set fire to herself on the court steps.
