Notes

Burn has two hidden tracks on the CD release. The first is a cover of The Doors, "Strange Days" which is found by rewinding the CD to -4:20 on a CD player (this may not work on software media players). The second is a reprise of the song "Inside" found at 8:43 on the final track.

Burn (Havok album)

Burn is the first full-length album recorded by the thrash metal band, Havok. It was released in 2009 on Candlelight Records.

Background

Drum, bass and guitar recording started in mid-2008 in the basement of singer/guitarist David Sanchez's mother's house, in Lakewood, CO. It took roughly 6 months. Vocals were recorded later at Motaland Studios in Denver with engineer Bart McCrorey, who also mixed the album. The band did not work with a producer due to a limited budget of roughly $2,500.

Halsey Swain provided the artwork after an earlier version of the same concept by another artist was rejected.

The album consists of 5 tracks that had been previously released on various EPs or demos and 7 tracks that were original to the album. Bassist Justin Cantrell contributed "Morbid Symmetry" to the songwriting process, but left the band before recording began. This track was designated the "single" for the album, though no actual single was ever released. Jessie De Los Santos replaced him. Drummer Ryan Bloom left the band shortly before the album's release date and was not permanently replaced until 2010. His credit on the album reads, "drum tracks by Ryan Bloom," and he was the lyricist for "Ivory Tower."

Burn (Mobb Deep song)

"Burn" is the first single from Mobb Deep's fifth album Infamy. The song features Big Noyd and Vita. On the album, the track is listed as "The Learning (Burn)".

Background

Prodigy's verse contains a subliminal diss towards Jay-Z, in response to the song Takeover.

Music Video

The music video was directed by Diane Martel & features a cameo by DJ Kay Slay. Although Vita is on the chorus of the song, she does not appear in the music video for the song due to Mobb Deep's Beef with Jay-Z (who had a strong relationship with her record label Murder Inc Records.

Absolute Return + Alpha (AR) was launched in September 2009, as a subsidiary of financial publisher Euromoney Institutional Investor.AR was formed when two magazines, Alpha and Absolute Return, were combined. The magazine publishes both online and print content. Its main focus is the hedge fund industry and its 3,500 fund managers, but the magazine also covers significant financial events and global research. The magazine features hedge fund rankings according to assets under management rankings, an annual ranking of the 25 highest paid hedge fund managers, and monthly tables of U.S. hedge fund performance data.

American singer Selena has released five studio albums, three live albums, one soundtrack and twenty-one compilation albums. Credited for elevating a music genre into the mainstream market, Selena remains the best-selling Tejano recording artist whose posthumous releases continue to outsell those of living musicians. As of 2015, the singer has sold 60 million copies worldwide, and was named the "Top Latin Artist of the '90s" and "Best-selling Latin Artist of the Decade" by Billboard magazine. Selena's career began as lead vocalist of Los Dinos in 1980. She signed with EMI Latin nine years later as a solo artist though her band continued to tour with her. She released her second album Ven Conmigo in October 1990; it peaked at number three on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. Ven Conmigo was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of 50,000 units, the first recording by a female Tejano artist to do so. As of 2010, Ven Conmigo had sold 500,000 copies in the United States. According to music critics, her next recording Entre a Mi Mundo (1992), was the "breakthrough album" of her musical career. The album and its lead single, "Como la Flor", helped launch the singer's career in Mexico.Entre a Mi Mundo peaked at number one on the Regional Mexican Albums chart for eight consecutive months; and was certified 6× platinum by the RIAA, signifying shipments of 600,000 units. Entre a Mi Mundo became the first Tejano recording by a female artist to sell over 300,000 copies.

Alpha (programming language)

The Alpha language was the original database language proposed by Edgar F. Codd, the inventor of the relational database approach. It was defined in Codd's 1971 paper "A Data Base Sublanguage Founded on the Relational Calculus". Alpha influenced the design of QUEL. It was eventually supplanted by SQL (which is however based on the relational algebra defined by Codd in "Relational Completeness of Data Base Sublanguages"), which IBM developed for its first commercial relational database product.
