Budyonnovsky District (Russian: Будённовский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the twenty-six in Stavropol Krai, Russia. It is located in the center of the krai. The area of the district is 3,203 square kilometers (1,237 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the town of Budyonnovsk (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] District's population: 53,250 (2010 Census preliminary results);[4] 54,085 (2002 Census);[8] 47,441 (1989 Census).[9]
Administrative and municipal status [link]
The town of Budyonnovsk serves as the administrative center of the district, although it is not administratively a part of it and is incorporated separately as a town of krai significance.[1] Municipally, however, Budyonnovsk is incorporated within Budyonnovsky Municipal District as Budyonnovsk Urban Settlement.[3]
