Buddam (or Buddham) is a village in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Karlapalem mandal of Tenali revenue division.
The name Buddam historically emerged from Bouddha Aramam (Monastery). The archaeological department located many Buddhist relics in and around this village and a few of them are preserved in Amaravati and Hyderabad. A large hoard of bronze Buddhist sculptures dating from the 8th Century AD was found in Buddam in the nineteenth century and is now in the British Museum.
A buddam (also known as a chow) is an obsolete unit of mass used in the pearl trade in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) in the 19th century. A buddam equalled 1/1600 chow, or 1/16 docra.
