1972 is the fourth album by indie folk musician Josh Rouse. It was released on Rykodisc in 2003.

On this album, Rouse pays homage to 70's bands. The tracks Comeback (Light Therapy) uses a bass line similar to the Stones song Miss You and Flight Attendant has the piano line from Elton John's Song For Guy.

Brother (Pearl Jam song)

"Brother" is a song by the American rock band Pearl Jam. Featuring lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and music written by guitarist Stone Gossard, "Brother" was an outtake from the band's debut album, Ten. The song was included as an instrumental version on the 2003 B-sides and rarities album, Lost Dogs. The version of "Brother" with vocals appears on the 2009 Ten reissue. The version of the song with vocals was released to radio in 2009, however a commercial single was not released. The song topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, where it spent a total of two weeks at number one.

Origin and recording

The original version of "Brother" features lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and music written by guitarist Stone Gossard. A version of "Brother" with vocals appears on the 2009 Ten reissue, while an alternate vocal version circulated among fans on an in-house disc labelled Rarities Unreleased Cuts that leaked onto the internet.

While the band was working on Ten the song became a point of contention between Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament. In a story described in the liner notes of the Lost Dogs album, Gossard decided he was no longer interested in playing the guitar riff which almost caused Ament to quit the band.

Brother (manga)

Brother is a yaoi manga by Yuzuha Ougi. It has been published in English by DramaQueen in 2005.

Plot

The story is about Asuka Momoki and Yui Momoki who are two stepbrothers who were the best of friends during their lifetime as kids and young adolescents. But all that changed, they were best friends until an incident they had one day between each other on a hot summer day

Ever since that day, Yui has been avoiding Asuka at all costs, because he is ashamed of what happened. Yui is so ashamed of what happened that he is trying to avoid Asuka so much even going so far as leaving his native Japan to foreign North America to study at one of the schools there, and forget what happened between him and Asuka.

In America, Yui is very successful in what he does: He has become a tennis superstar, and because of his success, Yui feels that he no longer needs a big brother to look after him. In short, Brother is a bittersweet romance about the love that two brothers can have for each other, and the difficult time they can suffer with it.

Brother (Catholic)

A religious brother is a member of a Catholic religious institute who commits himself to following Christ in consecrated life of the Church, usually by the vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience. A layman (in the sense of not being ordained), he usually lives in a religious community and works in a ministry that suits his talents and gifts. A brother might be a doctor, nurse, teacher, electrician, engineer, cook, lawyer, technician, parish minister, scientist or artist. He tries to live his faith by being a “brother” to others. Brothers are members of a variety of religious communities, which may be contemplative, monastic, or apostolic in character. Some religious institutes are composed only of brothers; others are so-called "mixed" communities that are made up of brothers and clerics (priests and seminarians).

History

As monasticism developed in the early days of Christianity, most monks remained laymen, as ordination to ministry was seen as a hindrance to the monks' vocation to a contemplative life. Guided by the Rule of St. Benedict, the main lifestyle they followed was either agricultural or that of a desert hermit. Various forces and trends through the Middle Ages led to the situation where monks were no longer following this manner of living. Instead, they were focusing primarily on the religious obligations of intercessory prayer, especially for donors to the monasteries. This was encouraged by a spiritual reliance among the general membership of the Catholic Church upon the prayers of monastics to achieve salvation.

History of American football positions

American football positions have slowly evolved over the history of American football. From its origins in early rugby football to the modern game, the names and roles of various positions have changed greatly, some positions no longer exist, and others have been created to fill new roles.

Origins in rugby

Being variants of 19th century rugby football,American and Canadian football position nomenclature has its origin there. Early rugby did no more than distinguish in tactics between the great bulk of the players who played as forwards and the relative few who played back defensively as "tends", as in goaltenders. After a while, the attacking or at least counterattacking possibilities of playing close behind the scrimmage (which later came to be called "scrummage") came to be recognized, and some players stationed themselves between the forwards and tends as "half-tends". It being seen that the players outside scrimmage (the "pack", i.e. the forwards) were not limited to a defensive role, the tends and half-tends were renamed "back" and "half back" positions.

B.A.C.K. is the fourth studio album by the Danish thrash metal band Artillery. It was released in 1999 on Die Hard music, and their first full-length studio album since By Inheritance, which came out nine years earlier. After the release of this album, Artillery would break up again, but eventually reformed for a second time in 2007.
